serpantino: They've only done it a couple of times but it's usually "like us on Facebook and we'll give you X" or "Post a picture or game review etc on Facebook, youtube etc and we'll give you Y" This kind of thing isn't a contest it's free advertising disguised as a contest.
Alot of contests held by companies are curtailed to certain demographics(Alcoholic beverages to only people over 21/etc, some contests to only teens & kids, etc..).....it happens. You can't expect that every contest is going to allow everyone to enter and that those that don't aren't being fair.
Also GOG is being business smart by trying as many venues as possible to get customers to visit the site. They also give away many games on the site & off the social sites as well, so imo they're being more than fair.
serpantino: As for my opinion on social networks.... I think they're the worst thing to happen to society in recent years. Everyone's always attention seeking, updating rubbish or posting stupid pictures or commenting on this and that etc etc etc. My other half has a Blackberry which is constantly making noise every time someone posts something or says something etc and she has to check it just "in case" it's important.
Posting pics is fun & some can be cute/funny. Also people have sought attention throughout history...it's human nature in some ways. This isn't to say I think all such attention seeking is good and that all that do it do it for good reasons/in good way......just that people doing such things isn't always a bad thing.
