Let me say this example

The Legend of Zelda fundementally has been the same game, and people wants it to change bring something new.

And from what I seen popular opinion whats this in Zelda:

RPG Elements, Voice Acting, Party Members, bigger open 3D world like Morrowind.

Though it mabye new to Zelda, but deep down fundamentally its not really new and innovative since its already done by other games.

Innovation in gaming has to be something that does not even exist at all, not taking known things and adding them to other games.

Zelda has not been the same game. Zelda used to have arcade gameplay with a non-linear western RPG feel as was how Nintendo marketed the original Legend of Zelda. It was the combination of the arcade and the computer RPG.

If anything, Zelda has been 'homogenized' as a PC adventure game with a Zelda IP and annoying puzzles. Remember when Zelda actually took some skill to play? Remember Zelda 2? Or the Second Quest of Zelda 1?

Lately, Zelda games have not been selling. It's time for a change back to what Zelda used to be.

Well I said I was open to corrections so what example would you provide that is better in this topic?

The Minish Cap (GBA) has nothing in common with the other Zelda games.

Minish Cap was made by Capcom, not Nintendo.
I wish Zelda stopped wearing all green already!

Sometimes the character wears red or blue I think, for certain levels.

I don't think you understand. Miyamoto was inspired by Western RPGs in the making of Zelda (as was Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest).

Your premise is that modern Zelda is innovative because it is not like other games. But this is incorrect. Modern Zelda is like the PC adventure games in Japan. The Zelda producer who took control after Zelda, Aonuma, was a huge fan of Japanese PC adventure games. Have you played his Majestic?

Zelda no longer sells. The medicine is for Zelda to return to what it was. Japanese PC adventure games don't sell anyway so why be inspired by those? WRPGs do sell and they sell big.

We are staying on topic since we are talking about what you wrote in your OP.

So ? It doesn't change the fact that the game is very different from the series.

I think he meant only to reinforce your point, and provide some context as to why it is different.

Yeah, I've heard he sometimes turns red when powering up in a volcano in order to defeat the the evil wizard Gamonhock. What I'm saying that he needs some modern fashion sense.

Well from what I heard WiiU zelda is going to have the biggest overworld in zelda history they went as far as saying one of its dungeons is roughly the size of all of hyrule in Ocarina of time.

but of course it rumor and speculation.

It seems every game is trying to do the whole "open world" thing. I much prefer a world where you know where you're going, in which it doesn't take hours to travel/get lost in it.

Windwaker took way too long in the sailing sections, for example. Imagine having to do that in a world 20 times larger :O

I would say that one can define it as innovation but then many things would be innovations. The crucial point is that many so called "innovations" (advertised as innovative gameplay) are just very, very small innovation, almost negligible. With combining things that are already there you can only get so far on the innovative scale.

But anyway innovation is overrated. Just give people what they want. If they want another Batman movie - give it to them. The idea is anyway always the same, for almost everything.
