rolanz: Here are some characters I designed.
Let me know if you like them and if you want me to work on other stuff.

I learned 2 things while making these.
1. Working with a mouse is EXTREMELY hard.
2. Being a pencil or drawing expert does NOT translate to being a digital art expert.

These are not very good but somewhat falls into the stick man category.
Also i realize that they have no arms. I am waiting to draw them at a time in which they may be animated.
They're to big, I'd need something in the same scale as what's already in game. Still better than what I can do though.

I'll attach a picture of one of the basic enemies so you can have some sort of reference.

Ok much easier with the smaller pixel count. 2 more pics for you to look at.

Let me know if you want me to continue with other stuff (dragons, enemies, blocks etc)

Hmmm, uhhmmm. Ok those are pretty good, some of the coloring could use work. Like around the heads and that guy's shield is large enough that you could add a bit more detail. Otherwise these are just about perfect for the game, especially that wizard dude.

At this scale what I think you'd be better off doing is making the heads flesh colored lumps. Adding facial features to something that small looks kind of goofy.

If you're up for continuing go for it. I'll add a terrain template so know how big any tiles you do have to be.

Thanks for all the help!

Some new stuff:
Monsters, new guys, floor tiles.

Floor tiles should work so that if you put the same one beside itself it should look continuous (or very close to).

This i could still do:
carpet tiles, animating (have no clue on how this would be done or how many frames would be needed),
more monsters or enemies (im out of ideas), pickups.

Let me know if these work and what i can improve on.

Have to post in more than 1 post due to 5 pic limit

Good lord, do you ever sleep?!? Yeesh, swapping out all the old sprites for your new ones is going to take me a whole hour now!

Edit: Ah right animations and ideas, sorry didn't notice what you wrote in your first post.

Some easy looking monsters could help spice up the enemies ranks for the earlier floors.
Oh and some wall tiles to go with the floors you did would be nice. The floors would look a little out of place with the old walls.

Pickups at the moment are... you know what I'll put together a sprite sheet for those and throw the animation strip for the sword guy in at the bottom.

As for new items, well various sorts of food to immediately restore health. Otherwise just draw whatever you feel like, if I can't think of a use for it then I can just turn it into a generic gold giving item.

Oh and whatever furniture you feel like in intact and smashed forms. The game does reward vandalism after all.

Speaking of rewards, you actions on my behalf shall not go unrewarded.

Double Edit:

FYI, the new floors look great in game.

Sheesh lots of animation frames...
It will take me a while to animate or make frames for them all. (like a week-2)
Ill make up some items, new monsters etc. in the meantime.
If you like certain weapons or accessories but the body of another I can easily swap them out (say a spear wielding skeleton)
Let me know which ones you are not going to be using since i don't want to animate those.
Also what kind of bosses are wanting and if i should make multiple animations for them(say a dragon that breathes fire, stomps and bites)

Im glad to be of help to you :D
It improves my skills and my own design process.

Edit: hmmmm walls...
might try some perspective stuff since i cant really think of anything much better than what you already have

I'm sure I can find a use for whatever you make. Even if some of the enemies are identical save for their sprite I could still use them just to add a bit of variety to the levels.

I could also really use a pair of stair sprites going up and down to replace the terrible job I did.

Oh and I've decided to give the player a permanent companion in addition to summons so I suppose they'll be needing a sprite too.

So, yeah the game needs a lot of sprites. I'm sure you can guess why I jumped at the opportunity to give you the job of drawing them.

I guess walls aren't to hight a priority since I think I've managed to produce something decent by combining the existing wall tile with a darkened version of one of your floors.

Ok i have all the info i need. Output should be what i already have about every 2 days as well as a whole lot of animation in a few weeks. In about a month or less(i hope) we should have a fully fleshed out, cool looking game :D
Edit: also found a cool item thing that will help me

Just so long as you're just using that for inspiration and not just copying things from it. I'm rather wary about using things without permission.

Well i was just going to use it as inspiration but the author released it as open source too :)
Miss me? Well I've got a new version of the game ready.

It's a download!

I think I'll try to aim for weekly releases for as long as people are interested.

Looking good :)
Sorry for not being in contact, I have not forgotten about doing stuff for the game.
I ran into some problems animating them due to program im using but its fine now.
I also see you have animated a few of my sprites, i was working on my new sprites so
the only stuff i have done on the old stuff is a few animated attacks.
So could you make a seperate spot for attack animation when enemies attacking since you
dont have that now or should i just make it i full animation with attacking and walking. I also saw
small bug that the instant that the skeletons died the red sheild guy popped in its place.
I still need to finish up a few things then ill give you everything i have tomorrow night and start working on new stuff :)
(expect around 7 new animated enemies, a couple attack animations for old enemies, new ground tiles, a couple animated items, 10-15 items, and a pet or two)

Good to know! Also the skeleton thing isn't a bug, I'm just using the swordguy's death animation as a placeholder until I get around to making a unique one for them.

Oh the way the game works is separate sprites for walking and attacking. At least that's what I think you where asking.
