True, they can't research every possible answer, but as they brought up BG without even being asked about it (simply in response to 'what's going on?' they started talking about how you can only buy it on eBay, so it was obviously prepared in advance. They even say they're 'very curious' about it...can't be too curious if they didn't even check to see if what they're saying was correct). I'd still expect them to know about the availability of a product they're touting as a major release though, especially after all the 'Bringing back from the dead!' claims.

It's a mistake, true, but one that I think warrants a bit of clarification on their part.
You can get the "4 in 1" (BG1&2 + the expansions) for around 15$ on several retailers some of them offering free shipping including amazon.com
I've actually picked up a copy two years ago as I find it much more convenient to handle a single DVD per game instead of the originals 5&4 CD's...
That said I'll buy it from GOG as well if will see a BG1+2 promotion for a good price.

Planescape: Torment on the other hand is kinda hard to find for a reasonable price, and the "Black Isle Compilation" is even harder to find...

Yeah, the Planescape rerelease is hard to find, and the original annoying to install. I'll buy that day one if GOG releases it. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 and Icewind Dale 1 and 2 are easy to get though, and cheap. I own those collections as they are easier to install and play than the original versions... I'm not going to buy them all a third time, this time for $10 a piece, just to support GOG. I'd rather do that with some other games that have DRM on the disc or that I have on Steam.
both the BG 4-in-1 packs and Icewind Dale 4-in-1 packs are widely sold for ~$10 around here, so I won't pick those up on GOG, but Planescape Torment still isn't available anywhere, so that's what I hope will show up here.

And even though those 4-in-1 packs might have been released recently (november 2009 they say?), 2-in-1 (BG1+exp, BG2+exp, ID1+exp, ID2+exp) packs have been available for a couple of years already, I think they were released in 2007 or so.
