It's GOG's move it seems

Alan Wake Nightmare preorder:

Steam - $15 (-10%) = $13.49, -15% more if you already own Alan Wake
GOG - $19.99 (-10%) = $17.99, -15% if you already own Alan Wake

Let's see how well competition works ^^

I've seen a number of signs indicating that GOGs growth has been remarkable. They've established a large loyal base. And now expand into steams realm with new releases. It doesn't surprise me that steam would take competitive steps. I look forward to a future of gaming where GOG is an industry giant. And I look forward to seeing if people will pay a little more for the DRM free versions.

Many years ago I was a night manager for a major retail chain. I noticed that all of my stores sales were near the same as our competitors. Each week the same items would be on sale at Thrity Drug, Bartells, Walgreens +. I found this odd at the time. 25 years later I still see it when I bother to look at the sale papers. I suppose the buyers for each of the chains are all offered the same deals from the suppliers.

Steam is firing their missiles!
If it comes to war...

GOG users will utterly destroy steam users! steam fanboyz are full of hot air. Their attacks have no substance. Toothless trolls. GOG users on the other hand can actually argue a point. They're well armed and can sustain their fire. steams numbers advantage will matter not! They've no chance!

LoL I jest. No disrespect to steam users. Your cool. I don't like steam, but I like that you like what you like.
i swear, this must be the only place on the internet where people identify with a digital distribution company on a personal level and scramble to its defense as soon as they spot what they consider a hostile move by a competitor.

if you think that's an 'attack' you should have seen Amazon during the Steam Holiday Sale...
I had a revelation of insight!

My thoughts went like this.
Steam is attacking GOG -> war -> wargames fans -> Napoleonic elite troops -> Grognards Of Gaming!

And suddenly my fear of Steam hurting GOG went away and was replaced by a calm surety that Grognards Of Gaming will triumph.

You haven't been to the Steam forums? Create a thread stating that you don't think Origin is the worst piece of crap ever created and watch drama unfold. I've seen threads there about how Gabe is god's gift to man, how somebody became sexually aroused when the Steam client had an update, and how another person wished Steam was his girlfriend.

Clearly all those comments were meant to be taken literally and not a joke or anything.

I know the most extreme ones were meant to be very poor attempts at humor but my point stands. People at the Steam forums identify with Steam just as much or much more than people here. Just read the daily Origin bashing thread and it'll remind you of any console wars thread on GameFAQs.

I don't know how things are on Switzerland but here people laugh at things that are actually funny.

OK, then. how exactly does that excuse the same behavior here?

Switzerland is Southern Germany, and as Southern Germans we share our Northern brethren's lack of a sense of humor.

It doesn't. I was just disproving your false statement that only here people are fanboyish about their preferred digital distribution platform. I don't even see anything wrong about this particular topic because the word "attacking" in the title is between quotes so it shouldn't be taken literally.
