all the information i have on it is from zero puntation and all yhatzee said was "IT SHOOTS SHURIKENS AND LIGHTING"
What more do you need to know? It has a gun that shoots shurikens and lightning, the most amesomest weapon ever put in a game.
Seriously though, Painkiller is a solid shooter, well worth the 10 bucks.
Agreed. Lots of really great action, and some very imaginative environments and enemies.
If you have ever played serious sam its alot like that, just in darker more evil settings and with a heavy metal sound track. So if you enjoy just mindlessly blasting away huge waves of enemies its worth picking up. The bosses are fairly insane as well, I was a little blown away by the size of the first boss.
I loved it... the visuals were great, and the gameplay -- as said -- was pretty much straight-up action. Cool weapons (the stake gun kicked ass) and cool enemies... really fast-paced and actually quite hard, too. If you like shooters, it's definitely a great game.

the cutscenes are boring and drawn out, but the action (which is what the gameplay focuses on) is great. Me, I got tired of it rather quickly, as it's not my type of thing. But if you like stages where the main goal is to kill everything, then you'll lurve painkiller.
Painkiller is a brilliant song from Judas Priest...bit on the hysterical side, but a song about LASER Bullets (whatever that may be) can never go wrong.
Oh the game isn't to shabby either...just forget tactics and shoot anything that moves :)
It is what Doom 3 should have been, that says enough.
It's worth buying for the stake gun alone.
Pneumatic-wooden-stake-firing-gun + ragdoll zombies = huge quantities of fun
The first part is a bit boring as you just run around a big graveyard, but if you get past that you'll see beautiful environments and a lot of simple fun. If you seek depth in a shooter then Painkiller won't make you happy, but if you just enjoy running around and shooting, like in Doom or Quake, then you can expect a lot of fun. A good indicator would be if you enjoyed Serious Sam. While Painkiller is more "moody", the gameplay is comparable.
Zero Punctuations review says it all. You don't need more information.

Astonishingly yes, this probably the first review I've found on ZP that actually makes sense.
I certainly enjoyed it more than I did its sequel.

Was the sequel ever released? I can't find anything about it on Google or elsewhere...
