Thanks to gyokzoli, I now own Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi from Gamersgate.... Problem is that every single time I try to install the game, a window pops up telling me that it is not a valid win32 application & then it closes out.
Is there any way to fix this?
I use Windows 7 64 bit just incase you would need to know...

Have you tried downloading it again and reinstalling it? Make sure your antivirus is not interfering with your download.

That message may also show up if the program is incompatible with your version of windows. Does the site claim it should work on 64 bit OS?
Sounds like it's a 16-bit application, which means it's not going to run on Windows 7 without some serious tweaking. You should be able to run it under an XP virtual machine though.
Could be a corrupt installer.

Delete it and download it again with another browser. Or clean your browser's cache before attempting to redownload (if you're using IE8 and if you have the site in question in your favourites its cookies and temp files won't be deleted unless you uncheck the appropriate checkbox on the cache cleaning options OR delete the site from your favourites first, then clean the cache and finally re add it to the favourites after that)

I have actually already tried that... multiple times =(

It doesn't say anywhere that it doesn't....

That's what I would say had I not got the same game on GamersGate free and installed it on my Win 7 x64 laptop...

So, I'm going to vote corrupted download.

It is relatively new... it is part of the Sega Megadrive/Genesis Pack.

Well damn... I have downloaded it I don't know how many times... surely not every one of them was corrupt...

The labelling of that error can be misleading.

Possible reasons for this error message :

1. File is corrupt, bad, or missing.
2. File is not designed for your version of Windows.
3. File is a virus, worm, or other malware file.
4. Hardware incompatibility.

What is the exact message ( the name of the file reported as not being valid ? )
Does it install anything or just run from an emulator exe?
In theory , this emulated megadrive game should work fine in win7

Well, in that case it's probably a corrupted download or the firewall / AV playing silly buggers.

What do you mean?
I have got it to download, but never install. It just says "Download_Shadow_Dancer-_The_Secret_of_Shinobi.exe. is not a valid Win32 application" & refuses to go any further.

I highly doubt it is a virus.... Gamersgate is pretty highly respected.

As for the message.... see above.

Well I was wondering it it actually wanted to install to a location on your computer or if it would just run from the exe itself. Its hard to say if it won't do anything. When you install it though right click and run it as an administrator.

Also as its such a small file you may want to try disabling your firewall and antivirus for a minute while you download again.

The text above is a copy/paste of the official description of that error. I indeed consider that the 3rd cause can be excluded at ~100%.

The weird thing is that the name of the file reported as erroneous is the Gamersgate downloader executable, not the game install file itself. I think that you should send a mail to GG on that, could very well be a problem with their server...

I did. They take forever to respond...
