It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

first of all, i have not found any of Gogs downloads to have viruses. ever. however, on windows 7 ultimate edition IE 9, sometimes you'll download a game after buying it, and it'll say "this software is unsafe, install at your own risk" and other times, it'll be fine.

am i putting unsafe software on my computer by bypassing the warning and installing it anyway? i've already done this with several titles, and so far havn't had any problems. honestly i'd just like to know why it is my computer thinks Gogs downloads are not safe.

Short answer: False Positive
Long Answer: The "Potentially Unsafe" means that it is a recent executable that not many people have downloaded, thus the browser (any browser) treats it as a potential threat. More or less "I haven't seen you around before, I'll be keeping my eye on you".
Don't worry, GOG just wants to hijack your computer and steal your personal data. It's fine.
...
Seriously, don't worry. As far as I can tell, some antivirus software thingies dislike GOGwrappers.

The software is fine, you're likely getting false positives because the virus scanner doesn't actually know what the software is. I don't remember if GOG signs their installers or not.
No, there is no viruses ride in gogs games.

2.x.x are digitally signed.

Ah, good to know. Don't think I've actually installed anything with that version yet.
Of course they're virus-free! Also, I have Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium, and I've never seen that message before... Maybe is because of IE9 (I use Firefox), or the message you're seeing is for unsigned applications, but I have UAC disabled because it was annoying, so I don't remember that very well.
Nothing's worse than Chrome's "This file is not commonly downloaded. We recommend you discard it."

I feel bad for the game devs with low traffic that could very well be losing potential players due to that.

ashout: snip
I work with computers all day w/ my occupation, IT and Tech Support work.

Just as others have said, it's a generic warning that comes up when the browser isn't familiar with a file. It'll do that for every file it doesn't have listed in its database.

What annoys me is when the browser will block something that is 100% not a virus and won't let me download it w/ a actual false positive. I have never encountered a virus associated w/ a GOG game downloaded from their site. :)

Actually GOG games are riddled with viruses. They took control of my PC and started printing out 3D copies of the EnigmaticT that dubstep freeform poetry all while making cookies and pouring copious quantities of alcohol.

Life has never been better than when I discovered GOG.

Most games aren't, but if I were you, I'd stay away from Sacrifice. ;)
