It's like the phoenix saga. GOG will close on Jan. 3rd and then immediatly Rise again in even bigger, better shape! :D

Yes, of course. It is pretty common knowledge on the forums and the others are just playing with you.

GOG has been bought by MS in a deal to enlarge the acceptance of Windows 8 and from Jan 3 on all GOG games will be available via the App store.
