I'm not into racing games myself so seeing TOCA 3 get taken off wasn't a big deal to me because of that reason but I was still somewhat saddened because it's just one less game GOG offers. I understand it's due to licensing stuff and I'm okay with that, I just wish it didn't have to be that way.
Also, someone else mentioned GOG as being a competitor to Steam and that's true, though I don't know if it's a direct competitor. They're both direct download services and they're both wonderful but GOG is offering older (usually) games with no DRM and lots of bonus stuff such as wallpapers, manuals, soundtracks, etc., while Steam is offering games with amazing weekend deals (GOG offers good deals too but sometimes Steam's are insane) plus free weekends, an amazing suite of community features, Steamworks, and Steam Cloud. They're similar but different. Impulse from Stardock is more of a direct competitor to Steam and it's really good too, though it's newer and doesn't have as many features yet. I think they're all amazing and I hope they all find their niche and stay there for a long time and do really well and continue to bring us great games. Wow, that's a long-winded post. :D

The thing is is that there shouldn't even BE an argument. They're both good but they're aimed at different markets. Apples to oranges.

It's just for the moment. Even now some titles overlap.
As time goes by - GOG will get lots of titles, as they inevitably turn old.
And besides... I dream of a day when there will be new price-points (for example: $15.99, $23.99,$ 29.99, $39.99) and new games available at launch. And I think I'll live to see that happen.

you dream of THOSE price points? i would like to see maybe some $2 or $3 games, or maybe like an $8 price point.

The way I see it, GOG should keep onto that "O", and not get "degraded" to a simple yet-another-digital-distribution-service with some older games as well. If they can get a not-so-old game for $10, then good, but they shouldn't introduce higher prices to be able to distribute newer games.
i agree. i want to see continued focus on old games of 5 years or greater with expansion in possible other formats such as console games.

Steam = Boo! :P
As others have said, I'm happy with the variety of old and not so old titles here and look forward to more publishers signing on with GOG.
I like the price points, but wish some of the titles were a little bit lower (looking at you Epic), and definitely don't want to see the price points climb above $10.
To be honest though, if it was a brand new release I wouldn't complain about new release prices if it was DRM-free and worked like other titles here.

That's what I'm saying. I don't simply want the prices to be higher - I want GOG to keep very old games at 5.99, old games at 9.99 and add a few more price-points for newer games.
When I want to buy a new game nowadays, I have to import it most of the time, as playing them in Polish is not an option for me.
I get a DRMed DVD, slam it into my drive, rip it and add to my collection of disk images.
It takes a LOT of time. Buying digital downloads would be a gift from heaven.
But... I don't want anything running in the background as I play. I also don't want to depend on the existence of a distribution platform. I want the game to be mine forever.
GOG exists as proof that you can sell games DRM-less. It's here to show the industry that they can trust us. Once that happens - the is no reason not to release new games without DRM. No reason not to do it on GOG when there are reasonable price-point available.
It's a win-win situation. Also - remember that, as time progresses, $39.99 will turn into $29.99, then $23.99, $15.99, $9.99 and $5.99. The only difference would be that we get the games before they are old enough to reach $9.99 (as it is now). Think about it.

Well, GOG is simply one of the best things to happen to gaming in a long time. I've purchased a bunch of stuff here and will continue to do so. The DRM-free aspect is key for me. I want to know I can still play the game 5 years from now. I want to be able to play on whichever of my many rigs it suits me to at the time. I have not "shared" any GOG games with anyone and never will. When someone treats me with respect, I return the favor.
A bunch of games I missed or did not want to pay $50 for are here and at these prices, they are worth a go. Plus, no worries about my rig being screwed up by some god forsaken DRM crap. It happened to me once and I said never again. I stopped buying games with dangerous DRM (yea, it meant doing a lot of research before purchasing). Missed some good games because of this.
Thanks, GOG, for making gaming fun again!

Also, to the OP you've got to remember they have to get these games ready for XP and Vista, at least some of older ones. Its not easy getting a game working on a 486 DOS, win 3.1, win 95, 98, 2000 to get it ready to work on XP, Vista. DosBox helps...A company that takes old DOS games and made and still is trying to make bug free to work on XP/Vista.
It sometime sometimes takes more work than they thought to make a old game work and having deal with copyright agreements.

Glad to see that all the games on here work on Vista, since I'm very tempted, being too young to have played them when they came out, to get the Duke Nukem pack. And Vista has a lot of trouble with some old games.

No I am sorry.
GOG is shutting down.
Every game that has been purchased from GOG will be erased from your hard drive.
It will also randomly delete other files from your hard drive while it's at it.
And it will make your toilet stop flushing.
And it will give you the Swine Flu.
And, every GOG game on your computer will count as 1 vote for Sarah Palin, 2012. >.> (Unless you're not American, then it counts as 2 votes.)
And by the way, I've got some ocean front property for sale right here in Arizona, if you act RIGHT NOW, I'll throw the Golden Gate Bridge in absolutely free!
