Fever_Discordia: snip
As an old Amigan, I'd love to see the Firebird/Rainbird titles get picked up. In the specific cases of the ones listed here, I believe the DOS versions are fairly comparable to the Amiga editions, rather than pronouncedly inferior as others often are. That could be fog-of-memory on my part however.

Crosmando: Also, if BloodNet does come, that means the other MicroProse/Infogrames "horror" games of the early 90's (which would now presumably be owned by Atari) might be coming: Legacy: Realm of Terror, Prisoner of Ice, and Call of Cthulhu: Shadow of the Comet.
Would be wonderful if so!
Shadow of the Comet would be an awesome release.

I've tried at least twice to get in touch with Chaosium people (the apparent owners of the "Call of Cthulu" trademark), and the emails just won't get through. I did get through to Greg Stafford who used to work at Chaosium, and I just now sent an email seeing if he can help me.

I think Lovecraft's original works may be public domain but any original works using his concepts and what not are not public domain, I think. Standard " I am not a lawyer"blurb goes here :D

Crosmando: I thought everything Lovecraft was now public domain?
Both H. P. Lovecraft's works and Robert Howard's works rightfully belong in the public domain, but companies such as Chaosium and Paradox Entertainment seem to be abusing trademark (distinct from copyright, and essentially perpetual) to maintain a sort of virtual copyright on the ideas. Others are suppressed from challenging this because of prohibitive court costs involved in IP claims.

See:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conan_the_Barbarian#Copyright_and_trademark_dispute
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paradox_Entertainment
http://lovecraft.wikia.com/wiki/Copyright_status_of_works_by_H._P._Lovecraft
(search "lovecraft public domain" etc for more)

That said, the copyright for the games themselves is a different matter. Adapting or using ideas, stories, characters, etc from the public domain to create a new work does not make that new work public domain.

Edit: Ninja'd by Judas! And like him, I should add "I am not a lawyer." ;)

Well...

I thought it was well known what I was, that everyone knew that AI constru... people (I meant people). People like us of course have genders. See, I laugh out loud, just like people. 101.

Actually, I sat here for a while trying to think of some funny joke I could do about gender, but came up dry. Oh well. No, I'm male.

VINDICATION!

. . . wait, was that my out-loud voice?

You don't have to apologize to me! I can't help but feel this is my fault somehow. Perhaps I was vague or oblique in some way and some joke or remark I made was misconstrued. I like to be playful with words, and even flirt with people when I don't know anything about them (including their gender), so perhaps it was something I said at some point.

It could also be that I'm gay, as perhaps I flirted with a male poster here and you took that to mean I was female, I don't know. In any case, I feel bad that you've had a false image of me in your head this whole time. I can't help but feel responsible that I'm suddenly not the person you thought I was. So the real question here is...

can you accept my apology?

Feh, that's not even close. The REAL question here is... the one whose answer is already known to be 42.
