tejozaszaszas: But it is free
There are various different kinds of free. Most have qualifiers, such as how it's distributed. Maybe with this particular game (or half a game) the IP holder has already stated that it can be distributed freely on for profit websites.

But normally it should be okayed with the IP holder if that hasn't already been stated. If it has why don't we have the full thing in some form or another?

It´s strange but I don´t think that Dot Emu uploaded this shareware version without permit of the rights holder.

Wishbone: Uhm, I'm a little confused here. Your antivirus "caught" a game trying to install a DLL file? Why is that considered "suspicious activity"? A quick search of my Crysis folder reveals no less than 53 DLL files. If you don't want (or won't be allowed by your antivirus) to play games that use DLL files, I suspect you won't play much of anything, ever.

Roberttitus: It said it was a potentially dangerous DLL file or some shit like that... If it really is or not is a completely different story.
Switch AV seriously if the heuristics are that bad it's not worth dealing with.
Sorry for hijacking the thread, but does anyone has problem buying games from DotEmu with Paypal? After I log-in to Paypal's website, there's always this message: "PayPal does not allow your country of residence to deliver to the country you wish to", which is weird since I can buy games from GOG, Steam, and other stores with Paypal without any problem.

Odd most reviews i've found say avast is better.. comodo's average score is 3.5 outta 5 especially the new version which is seen as bloated..

Avast's detection rate is much lower than Comodo. There is this guy on youtube I watch who does some weird detection test thing. Comodo stopped around 97% of the attacks whereas Avast stopped only rougly 93% of the attacks.

He probs used the virus detection test kit.. a text file with a load of virus keys in a fair few engines now realise its the kit and ignore it now you have to tell it to test.
avg has got to be the worse i switched it out with mse when it started flagging the dlls from aoe 1 and aoe 2 as dangerous files
I just want to vouch that DotEmu's support team is exceptional (so far). I put a support ticket earlier today and I got responses (real, not automated) literally within minutes. On Sunday.

We have an official rating list accepted by all AV manufacturers?

I like the buttons displayed on DotEmu games pages showing languages and compatibility.

If it's shareware then they automatically have permission to redistribute or even sell it. That's what the word "shareware" means.

It´s true. Really the correct word is demo.
I just purchased Post Mortem from them since I really liked Still Life and GoG doesn't have it, and had AVG throw up a level 4 malware detected alert on the game.exe file as soon as I tried launching it, urging me to quarantine the file.

Anyone else had problems like this? I hope it's a false positive, I just emailed their support. (Note: I highly doubt it's being infected by anything else, since I'm pretty diligent about good practices and keeping my machines clean, and I haven't had a viral infection in the last 15 years or so.)
