Gundato: Have you had a contradictory experience? i will be the first to admit I tend not to run into issues (or even try to use offline mode).

Rohan15: I still have issues, even when I'm online. Sometimes the UI will just not load up, the offline mode will refuse to go to online mode, but hell, I could care less.

Yeah, but offline mode works, right? :p
I didn't say Steam was fixed. I just said that offline mode was. :p

It works sometimes, yes.

Kezardin: I must admit, though, the only reason I got the last few patches (to bring the game up to v2.601) was the excellent looking user created campaign Eastern Front :

Oh wow! The Russians. I've been waiting for a Russian campaign badly!

There's no campaign (for now), just skirmish/mp faction.

Bugger !!! :(
Might still try a skirmish or three....

I'm tempted to recommend MoW: Red Tide, but it's not the easiest of games ever.

Ah nuts, wanna play a Stalingrad or Leningrad mission. Gonna try the mod once I get back home.
I've finally tried the Eastern Front mod. Save for the Soviet unit quotes, which are probably from Russian version of CoH (like elite infantry mentioning rangers, or IS-2 tank mentioning Firefly), it is friggin' great job.

I would not recommend that one.
Men of War is to Company of Heroes as Operation Flashpoint is to Battlefield 2. Both are great games, but they appeal to very different crowds.
Try a demo of the MoW series (if there is one). It might be up your alley (I prefer it), but it really depends on what you wanted out of your WWII-flavored RTS.

Yeah, there is one on Steam. I think there's also a non-Steam version, but the one I tried wasn't in English. But yes, it's definitely a more complex, challenging game.

I have MoW on Steam during the discount. It's a much more challenging game, in terms of difficulty, and more complex than COH.
As for complexity for WWII games or heck even all games in general, nothing I've played thus far comes close to Hearts of Iron 3. Dying to get Europa Universalis 3 but I can't find the boxed set.

Military Simulations in Melbourne have EU3 Complete (original game and first two expansions) for A$25.50 + freight

Don't expect Europa Universalis 3 to be a Hearts of Iron set in an older time period. I like the game a lot, but while HoI 3 is primarily a wargame with some economic complexity, EU 3 is primarily about managing your nation's economy.
The war aspect is much more basic.
Still, it's a great strategy game, like most of Paradox's games, provided you remember that their initial releases are usually very buggy, and that you're better off waiting for 2 or 3 patches and an expansion before buying it. That'd save people a great deal of frustration.

Wow, that's kinda cheap.
I'll find around somemore to see if I can get it locally before I import. :)

Yup, I've heard. I'm very into strategy games, as long as the gameplay is good, I'm definitely into it.
