I got some microsoft points for my birthday yesterday & saw that the game was on sale for $5... I know that it is extraordinarily famous for being underated, but does the game actually live up to that hype? Also... is there any games that you could compare it to, so I know what I would be getting myself into? Thanks =)

I dont remember much of it, but the bits I remember were of pure gaming joy. Clever riddles, amazing gameplay, clever innovative system, for 5 bucks you CANT go wrong.

I played it on the PS2, and it was very good; fell apart somewhat at the very end. I'd certainly recommend it for $5.

I already own psychonauts for the PC & really just want to know if Beyond Good & Evil is any good because it is on sale for $5 on XBLA. Thanks Dude with Tomba avatar talking about pigs as a selling point.... was does this not surprise me =P

Yes, it is quite good. No individual part of it is outstanding, but it does a lot of different things, and somehow it becomes more than just the sum of its parts.

I disliked it (PC version), but then again I got a physical copy for 2€ and can probably sell it away for a profit, so not much harm done.

E: Remember, this comes from probably the only person in the world who absolutely hates Deus Ex, so it could be that I simply have no taste.

Beyond good and Evil is ... It's an extremely polished, cinematic experience - both combat and stealth are very fluid, the game just flows and is lot of fun, it's got a ton of minigames and fun distractions. It's also beautiful, with fantastic design. And it's ... When I played it, it felt kind of bland, actually. When you build up a cinematic experience, at the very least you should have a fantastic story to support it, which Beyond Good and Evil doesn't have. Still, while I don't think it actually does live up to the hype, the game is very much above average and I can't but recommend it.

Wait, Deus Ex is a rock paper scissors game? I knew I was missing something by putting all those points into swimming! :D

yes, it's a great game but I too have to admit that it does kinda fall off at the end.

supposedly there was quite a bit of cut content that reduced the game from a semi open world roll playing action / platformer, to more of a 3D action adventure game with great setting and lore.

I played the game on my Gamecube many, many years ago (or at least it feels like that now). I still have incredibly fond memories of the characters, the world, the creatures etc. I'm notorious for not finishing the games I start, yet I remember Beyond Good and Evil being one of the first games I ever played through to the end, I even pulled all-nighters that summer so that I could continue playing (this might also mean that the game is shorter than most games, but I certainly have fond memories of that particular summer).

A lot of my memories may be vague now, but I'd definitely recommend it. I don't think there are a lot of games out there quite like it (I think it was compared to Zelda at the time, but I never found that to be quite accurate). I remember enjoying the photography bits as well.

It also has a kick-ass female protagonist.

So yeah, thumbs up from me. Go for it :D.
