Sogi-Ya: Honestly, if your looking for who to blame on why BS (gotta love those initials) went to steam, you can blame me.

Me and people like me who were so pissed at getting burned on oblivion that we pirated F3 because there was no demo and we sure as hell were not going to jump in cold Turkey for a second burning.
Why do I feel like the only person ever who liked vanilla Oblivion?

I have no idea, but now we're two.
I liked Oblivion pretty much. Even better than Morrowind. I don't understand that hate.

Let the war begin.

Aybe because you are ;-P. I did enjoy it somewhat until I encountered bandits with deadric armor. Beating the arena at level 2 should have warned me....

It has been some time since I last insulted you here, hasn't it? ;-P

To be honest, I don't even see much difference between TES3 and TES4.

Have you played it?
Both of them, for many hours.

Both have boring main quest. Both share the same mechanics. oblivion looks better and has ragdoll, so bow sniping with my agent was kinda fun. Also assassin's guild gave me some good fun.

Differences are minor, not important for non-fanbois...

Aningan: No. There's also the pirate bay version.

lowyhong: Best acquired after you send a cheque Bethesda's way, lest they blame you for lost sales.
Are they really complaining about lost sales? I haven't seen Skyrim's sales numbers but I'd be flat out shocked if it was under 4 million units so far.

Paingiver: How can Bethesda make their games Steam only?
They started with New Vegas. Skyrim wasn't the first.

300+ hours into my Steam Oblivion, no idea how much more on my retail goty. No, you're not alone.

They've not been overly consistent with it though. Hunted, for example, was not Steamworks.

They only published Hunted, inXile Entertainment developed it.

Paingiver: Are they?
All PC versions of Skyrim which are legitimate use Steamworks, which involves having to have a Steam account to play the game.

Orcish, how many times do I have to tell you Bethesda didn't develop New Vegas? It was developed by Obsidian. lol :)

Ah, but it was Bethesda who bossed the developers around and probably told them "No, you can only publish New Vegas to Steam! Nyaaaaa!" Then poor ol' Obsidian said "Yes mister Bethesda, sir." and went back to toil on the game some more.
