Recently the Iranians are up to start doing games too.

Currently the first only Iranian made game which will be released for now will be Garshasp, a mix of Prince of Persia and God of War exclusive for the PC:

I know, in the demo video the graphics(especially Garshasp's textures) look too cheap, not to forget the gameplay resembling too much like God of War. But well, I personally think this will be worth it. I won't need to buy GoW III after all since the PC will have their PC-exclusives aswell.
They have a bad start though, for example living in a theocratic dictatorship which hopefully will be over soon, so cencorship could become an issue. The IRI despices anything Pre-Islamic. Also, the minor issue would be the graphics but they worked under a budget of 200 thousand dollar a year, a joke compared to what Ubisoft or Capcom would spend on their productions.
Also, this video is rather old, it could've been improved over the time.

I have asked them about the release, and they told me they are still negotiating with Western publishers to get the game outside of Iran. At the same time they are optimizing the Garshasp. I wish them luck.
The reason to post it is because I think we will have a new source of independent DRM-free games. The Iranians look like they will focus their work on the PC,so yay?

pc exclusivity is supported by Iranian theocratic government.
DRM-free games are also supported by them and also by communists.
Therefore
DRM-free PC gaming is evil and by supporting them you support evil and are enemy of freedom, democracy and you hate children.

I only know their despise of Pre-Islamic stuff so I am surprised the developers can pull this off, especially if the gouvernment supports the game company. I mean, the IRI could boycott if there would be a hot gamebabe not wearing a burkha in any game.
Hopefully the IRI will fall in this year. It would easen the situation for game developers.

A new developer which is focusing at the pc and is DRM free is always welcome.
I don't see the Irian goverment getting overthrown soon.
Young people might be a majority, but the people supporting the government are fanatics and have everything to supress an uprising.
They've shown that in the last few months.
A revolution can be very bloody.
I hope I'm wrong though.

If the young people are the overwhelming majority, and they dont want that kind of government, let them take care of their own problems. No one knocked the doors of the washington and offered their help to get rid of the english.

This looks like a very interesting game, especially since many games like this tend to be only on consoles. It is certainly good to see a new developer interested in making games for the PC.

Impossible. If their oppressive regime is inevitably going to play such a big and detrimental part in shaping their games industry that it's a relevant part of the discussion. Just like how Australia's politics frequently comes up. Only more so.

Maybe a there could be a government-funded sandbox game where you throw the Koran at heathens? Grand Religious Brainwash? A turn based strategy game where you attempt to overthrow a peaceful monarchy and attempt to rig elections and kill people who are peacefully protesting in the streets? Maniacal Dictator Tycoon?
