UPDATE 22.04.2011:
We have uploaded a new version of the Downloader (0.9.0.1218). Please download it at your convenience and let us know if any of the problems you experienced earlier still persist.
Major changes include:
fixed problems with logging on,
the Downloader no longer attempts to move files after changing the destination folder,
you can now change the number of concurrent downloads (1 to 10) in the Downloader's options, in case you think the Downloader is overusing your connection.

UPDATE #2 (22.04.2011):
Version 0.9.0.1224 is out, introducing some backend fixes.

I like the fact that the updater has a "check for update" function, but I think having to close the window then right-click the activity bar icon makes it a bit too hidden.

Also, a one-button "clear the list of finished downloads" function would be nice.
My downloads still remain paused, no matter what I might try.
Holy crap! <3 the new downloader. I have a 2.1mb speed on it compared to a 1.3mb speed before. Thanks gog. A question though; Why don't you just list the games the user has in the downloader?
Red leader reporting in. This is the first time new gog downloader started working for me and it's great. The speed is awesome too. Thank you. Hopefully this is now all ready for The Witcher 2 :)
A couple of pages back, I posted an issue that I was having with the new downloader.

My problem was solved by limiting the number of connections to 1 in the options.

I'm on a satellite connection, so what was happening was that due to my high latency, most of the 10mb chunks were being lost.

Since setting limit to 1 it works fine. It's still a little slower for me because of the latency that occurs every time it requests a new chunk, but it's interesting to note that when I did finally get the file downloaded, nothing was corrupt even after all of the trouble I had. So it looks like while it may be a little slower on a high latency connection, the downloads it provides are more reliable. I can live with that.

@ GOG:

It may be helpful to put an entry in your FAQ stating that satellite or otherwise high latency connections benefit from being limited to one connection at a time.
The most recent version is having problems with Gabriel Knight Sins of the Fathers. It seems it can't quite get the last few megabytes of the game.

Might and Magic 7 does the exact same thing

I can confirm that M&M7 cannot finish downloading. Thought it was just on my end.

Sude: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GOG.com\GOGDownloader
So... in Wine it should be in /home/username/.wine/user.reg and string [Software\\GOG.com\\GOGDownloader] if I am not mistaken?
They fixed Might and Magic 7!

Destro: The download should be fixed now, sorry for the inconvenience. Please use My Account -> My Games to grab the latest version (v1372) as it contains multiple important bugfixes over v1336
I have v1336, but I see no option for re-downloading the v1372 downloader from MyAccount/MyGames. It used to be the case that clicking on a game you own would give you the option to download the downloader... now it does not. It just starts downloading automatically with my v1336 version!

How does one actually go about getting an even-newer version of the downloader??

UPDATE: SOLVED. The answer is tricky. When you click on a game you own, to the right of the green option to "Add to Gog Downloader" is a little grey "?" question mark. CLICK THAT QUESTION MARK and the option to redownload the latest downloader appears. There is a checkbox at the bottom of that new popup to "skip this screen" which I had checked. Now I have the latest downloader, and it was WAY faster than v1336. Thanks!

Right-click the Downloader icon in your system tray, hit "update."

Cool! I didn't know about that.

I found another way, even if you don't have the downloader running. Click the grey "?" in the white circle when you click on one of your My Games. It's just beside the "Add to gog downloader" option.

AkiMatti: EDIT: I got it working, Opera had a false link to the program in the settings. Fixing that corrected the problem.
Thanks for the tip. As soon as I tried doing this through IE instead of Opera it worked like a dream.
