UPDATE 22.04.2011:
We have uploaded a new version of the Downloader (0.9.0.1218). Please download it at your convenience and let us know if any of the problems you experienced earlier still persist.
Major changes include:
fixed problems with logging on,
the Downloader no longer attempts to move files after changing the destination folder,
you can now change the number of concurrent downloads (1 to 10) in the Downloader's options, in case you think the Downloader is overusing your connection.

UPDATE #2 (22.04.2011):
Version 0.9.0.1224 is out, introducing some backend fixes.

Just tried today the new downloader and I seem to have two issues:

1) Every time I click "Add game to Downloader" from "What’s in the new GOG.com Downloader?" screen, Firefox 4 will open a small window titled "Launch Application" where I have to choose GOGDownloader. So far so good until I go to another game and click "Add game to Downloader" when Firefox will open the small window twice. On the third game added I will get three windows, and so on... Only workaround would be to get out of "My account" and come back again only to start again.

Please see attached image with multiple windows opened.

2) All newly added downloads are "paused" whatever I try to do. They stay like that for a very long time. So far only one started, got 10% from the file then stopped but says is "downloading" with 0KB/s. As I write this that download became "paused" too and at the bottom the status changed to "offline" (but I'm logged in). Please see the other attached image.
This may or may not be related to the fact that right now I'm connected trough a router that employs load balancing on two different lines. I will test this later on another location and see if things are changing.

edit: unfortunately the downloader does not work on the other location. Same thing, after it starts it will stall with "downloading" at 0KB/s. It stays like that indefinitely.

edit2: the culprit for no 2) is Avira WebGuard module. As soon as I manually disabled that, the downloader started working properly.
It still remains the annoying issue at no 1). It is bad if you need to add downloads one after another.

tritone: GOG: HERE IS YOUR DOWNLOADER SPECIFIC PROBLEM

My password had an equal-sign in it, and I could not get logged in with the downloader. It just kept prompting me for login/password over and over. On a "hunch" I changed my password to remove the equal-sign, and now the downloader works!

Please look into this, as there may be other "special characters" in other people's passwords that your program is not accepting. Thanks!
Thanks, Tritone. That is exactly what was happening to me too. I took the 'special characters' out like you said, and it immediately started working instead of crashing the program.

Separate Note:
After I logged into the downloader I had to manually start the download though, it was paused for a time at startup. I think the old AIR version just started downloading the first thing on the list.

I'd love to have 'Remove all finished downloads' (just the list, not the files) as an option when I rightclick in the list of downloads.

TyrantGuardian: When trying to add a download through Internet Explorer 9 I get
"gogdownloader://painkiller/ is not a valid Win32 application."

followed by
"Unable to open this helper application for gogdownloader://painkiller/.

The protocol specified in this address is not valid. Make sure you address is correct, and try again."

What do I do? :(
I'm getting the same error. I got it to work by running the .exe within the WinRAR
Anyone having trouble getting the new version v0.9.0.1372? I'm trying to download it but keep receiving like half the file (508kB). Using Firefox 4 btw.
Can anyone download the latest version of the downloader? The zip file containing the downloader is corrupt when I try and grab it from this link:

http://files.gog.com/downloader/gogdownloader_0901372.zip
I can't download the new one either, the download finishes at 508kB (about half the reported size) and the archive appears to be corrupt and won't install.

Same problem for me. The download stops after 508KB.
Tested with FF4 and IE9.

Simplex: Same here :/
Same here. Note getting the whole file. Old version seems to work ok, but hangs and will not start downloading again. Looking forward to getting the new one. I have 2 days to get some games downloaded. Lets go Gog! and thanks for the great work!

I've tried Chrome (Build 11) and IE9.

What Great Work? The current download for the new GOG dowloaders has corrupt files, you cannot even install it. And I dowloaded it both with IE8 and Mozilla Firefox..same thing happened.
What is it that GOG just cannot seem to get their downloader to work right?

Anybody knows where the GOG Downloader settings are saved? It might be useful to know if we want to delete the settings, especially the login info, just in case we are downloading from public computers.

The download should be fixed now, sorry for the inconvenience. Please use My Account -> My Games to grab the latest version (v1372) as it contains multiple important bugfixes over v1336
