We're happy to present a reasonably polished beta version of our latest Downloader. It's more robust than the current one and sports similar features, but the best thing about it is that it's made entirely in-house. We've got this guy who wrote it from the ground up, which means we can be a lot more flexible when it comes to fixing bugs and introducing new features (and we've got some cool ones lined up!).

Before we roll out the final release, we would like some of you guys and gals to try it out and let us know in case you encounter any problems.

Above problems are already fixed, will be pushed with the next release.

You can download the installer here:
http://static.gog.com/download/d3/beta/Setup_Downloader_3.0.24.exe

On Windows XP and Vista, the installer will automatically download the .NET Framework, if you don't have it already. Once you launch the actual app, it's much like the current Downloader, so you should feel right at home.
We will keep rolling out new versions as we remove bugs and add stuff. You will be prompted to download the latest version when you launch the Downloader, or check for updated manually (under Settings).

Let us know if you like it, or if you encounter any issues we don't know about!

Guess I fixed it, the app should now be watching system power mode changed events and act accordingly. I'll post it in a future update. Nevertheless logger is still welcomed ;)

The major bonus feature would be a way to check our versions against GOG.com's so we can make sure we "always" have the most up-to-date copy....

an issue happened when sanitarium was released and it crashed all over the place... i had no clue there was a new version of the installer on gog.com... only after i read the forum and found out about it did i grab the newly packaged installer and enjoyed the game...

maybe though this down-loader or possibly make a note in our account database of the last time we "downloaded" the installers. Then if there is an update shoot us a PM though gog.com or some other way to let us know its time to update :)

The beta downloader you have already checks the downloaded files vs. what's on the servers and marks the download complete if it's the same or re-downloads everything if it isn't. The only downside is that you have to add the game to the queue manually, the downloader won't inform you about an update being available, for now ;)

Hope that helps.
I just downloaded and installed the downloader on a fresh windows 7 installation and for some reason it crashes when updating.
The downloader tells me a log file was created but for some reason it's not present in the location it says it's at.

Edit: Nevermind, apparently it wasn't the latest version. I installed 3.0.23.

That's a great feature. How about downloading additional content, when is that being added? (or already is?)
