Rebellious JC Denton or death-dealing Mr 47? What kind of hero will you be today?

GOG.com is proud to announce that Square Enix is the newest heavyweight addition to our ever-growing GOG.com catalog of great games. SquareEnix is one of the biggest publishers of the modern gaming world with almost 30-years of experience and famous releases for every single existing gaming system.

Deus: Ex Game of the Year Edition and Hitman: Codename 47 are the first titles we’re releasing from Square Enix, and they're available today for $9.99 and $5.99 respectively. Both games were originally released by Eidos in 2000, but not a single drop of greatness has been lost since then. Deus Ex is a magnificent blend of remarkable storytelling, RPG customization, and action-packed shooting. With all GOG.com’s heart we recommend Deus Ex for $9.99 as one of the most captivating and rewarding games ever. EVER! Hitman, a demanding stealth/action/planning game, created a now-iconic bald assassin Mr 47. With a vague name and a vague past, Agent 47 at least has a clear goal: eliminate the target at all costs. For you, the cost of Hitman: Codename 47 is $5.99.

There are a few more heroes from SquareEnix, that deserve a special treatment from GOG.com, and we will be announcing them in coming weeks. Today, it’s time to shave your head and buy an AMT Hardballer or wear sunglasses at night and save the world from the Illuminati.

You decide what kind of hero you want to be.

DarkMaverik: Maybe you should try not having such a horrible computer and internet setup.

Seriously, I live in Australia, so slow internet is something I've got in spades mate. But I've NEVER had the issues your complaining about. I've not ONCE had steam go down. Ever. And as for release day games? You know what's great about steam? "Pre-Download". You can have the game downloaded and waiting either 48 or 24 hours (can't remember which) before it's release date, so that the second the clock ticks over, it just dowloads a small decrypter, and bam. Enjoy your game, likely before the folks who camped out at the store even get home.

As for game updates, you must have the worst luck. I mean really. I think I've encountered a medium sized update (took maybe an hour?) once when I wanted to play the game? Other than that? Small updates and I barely ever notice them. Almost never have them downloading when I'm getting ready to play them. I question the validity of that particular argument purely on the grounds that, other than games with a heavy online focus (which I would assume that somebody with a cardboard box PC in the middle of whogivesafuckistan wouldn't really play for obvious reasons) it's not really an issue that any normal person is going to have to worry about.

In short, you are this guy, and you shouldn't presume to speak for everybody else.
My computer is just fine, thank you very much - it runs RAGE and Battlefield 3 just fine - and not everyone has the luxury of living near a telephone switchpoint. And your Steam fanboyism is coming across as being so fucking ridiculous, that I'm going to say nothing more on the subject save to google "steam forced updates" and "steam game is not available".

I'm done. Don't expect a reply to any more of your Hammer Legion bullshit.

l0rdtr3k: anyone remember Tomb Raider:The Angel of Darkness?that was such a great gmae wasn't it?
Poor execution stopped this game from being great. Bad controls, having to find powerups to advance, too many load screens etc.

Bought it on PS2 for $1.99 which allows greater patience from me vs if you spent $60 when it came out.

While this deal is probably just for Eidos' back catalog, if GOG is going to start releasing newer games anyway I'd love to see Last Remnant especially if it's under 20 dollars since it just doesn't seem to drop in price on Steam despite being several years old.
Legacy of Kain franchise, please! I have been wanting to play Defiance again forever now. Soul Reaver 2 would be most appreciated as well. The whole franchise would be day 1 purchases for me.

SimonG: Well, for two in a day you might be right. As PS:T was released alone ;-P
To be fair, PS:T could only be released on its own. Most games would have been severely overshadowed if released on the same day with it.
This is great news! I can now really expect to see some of my all-time favourite classics to join the ranks of GOG.
Please release the Thief games. That is all.

You missed its sale a few months ago some time in the autumn or early winter.

i'm not trying to get involved, and my stance towards Steam is certainly favourable, but i'd just like to point out that you can't accuse others with different opinions of fanboyism while you yourself act as if the problems you have with Steam are universal. they are not.

in all likelihood, the vast majority of Steam users never have any problems. that does not mean there are no problems, but when people act as if Steam was faulty and didn't work those who have no problems with Steam feel it is only fair to defend it. that alone does not equal fanboyism. somebody who has no problems with Steam, and says so, isn't automatically a fanboy. what, should they lie and say Steam sucks if it doesn't?

Not really the religious type, but let's all take a moment and pray that we get Thief Gold and not Thief the dark project.
I was using sarcasm.I always forget to it point out

THIS.
If this really includes Eidos, are we possibly looking at Richard Burns Rally?
OMG! Square Enix and GOG, thank you so much.

Hitman and Deus Ex = Eidos. Of course it means Eidos!

Don't hold your breath for games featuring officially licensed material though.
