I liked the film but I've seen better Nolan movies. It's better than TDK for me. The circumstances leading to Earth becoming a dust bowl is not explored, I think. This makes that kind of doubt speculative at best.

Just looked up Christopher Nolan films and the only ones i liked were man of steel and inception. When i say 'liked' i mean i watched the films and really loved them as opposed to the rest which i never watched at all because they don't 'look' interesting..... Memento, Doodlebug! please!! As for Batman, well, there are certain limitations how much more blood you can squeeze from a stone after 50 million people squeezed it previously

Went to watch it yesterday and loved it as well, I just don't think it's for everyone. It could get pretty confusing to people who don't know squat about astronomy, even though they do explain some of the science happening in the movie.

When i tried to describe it to a friend, I compared it to "Contact" because it was very realistic in its science fiction bits. Turns out some of the people who worked in Contact had a hand on this one as well.

What did you thought of The Prestige?

I loved the movie! Sure, the physics are still not correct in some points, but it is more solid than anything Hollywood produced since 2001 - Odyssey. And yes, there are some minor plot holes, but over all the story, the characters and the amazing (and relativistically almost correct) visuals drew me in. Another great Nolan movie! He is really one of the greatest directors/writers of our time.
Great movie too. ... Amazing cast: Christian Bale, Scarlett Johannsen, Hugh Jackman and David Bowie. And a cool story too, if you assume that both mages are completely bonkers and manically focused on their great trick.
(because any sane person would have found many far better uses for Tesla's machine!)

Yeah and I think Angier is the worst and not only that He made a duplication machine. Think of the posibilities using a duplication machine. Well for one if you block of pure solid gold thats worth 1000 imagine duplicating 100 of them.

At the moment whats the point of trying to upstage Bordin?

It is not really the fact he made the duplication machine that makes it horrible. It's that he decides to go through that emotional torture of drowning himself with each and every performance just to come up with a better trick.

With Borden, you know one of them is good and the other is a crazy individual. At the end of it, only the good one remained to pick up the pieces.

Prestige beautifully captures the downward spiral of obsessed performers. It's one of Nolan's finely crafted films that deserves praise.
Angier never really loved her and sent her to Borden. She was used goods. lol.

I'm still unsure to watch it, trailers only confuse me..

Is this like Gravity or Oblivion?, how cool are the effects? action scenes?

Had too look that one up to understand why i would not have watched it.... I cannot stand anything related to magical illusion. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but just in my own mind i really don't care how impressive something looks if i know it is somehow a trick, i cannot help the feeling the whole thing is just so stupid, my loss, i know.

Anyone who wanted to see a human head explode would simply tie me up and force me to watch magic shows, that or any reality TV!

Honestly, I felt like the trailers gave no indication of what the movie was going to be like. When I saw the trailer the first time, I looked at my husband and said "meh" - maybe we'd see it, maybe we wouldn't. If we had known what we were in for, we would have been there on opening night.

The movie is very story- and character-driven. Don't go into it hoping for an action-packed end of the world movie, because that's not what it is. The visuals are amazing and I really regret not taking advantage of the IMAX showing after seeing it in the regular theatre. That being said, we were still totally drawn in for the entire runtime (almost three hours). It's been ages since I've been that enthralled by a movie.

I haven't seen either Gravity or Oblivion (though I want to), so I can't comment as to whether they're similar or not. I do highly recommend going to see Interstellar at your first chance though!

Thanks for the post. I remember Nolan doing the same with Inception.

It may be just me, but it's the first time I see you recommending something without some sarcastic or snarky remark of how bad it was on the edges. Or maybe I missed it. :P

From what I recall, Nolan did not write the comic for Inception.
