GOG didn't delete anything when we commented about those counter-programming Ubisoft deals in Steam, which were (potentially) hurtful for GOG.
Is the Fallout MMORPG really being developed? I thought Bethesda had pulled the plug.

Infogrames have the D&D license. But Planescape Torment is still being sold on some of the more obscure DD sites and as a bundle in Poland. So either Interplay are hoping those will go overlooked, have forgot about them or still have the right to profit from it.
Well they pulled the plug on Interplay producing it because Interplay had not made adequate progress on its development. I suppose that doesn't rule out the possibility of Bethesda themselves making a Fallout MMO.I really hope they don't though.

Bought a new box of Baldur's Gate collection a few months ago, and they bear Atari (that's Infogrames's new entity, right?) logo. So I guess it's Atari now that have the right to profit from D&D-based videogames.
Oh, and to be on topic, someone in Steam forum said that Interplay increase the price of their games on Steam because Valve ask much higher royalties (about 40%) compared to GOG (15%)... dunno if it's true or not.

While Interplay could do with the cash, I like this place to much to grab the titles over there. Plus, I have the ones I want and don't already have on CD.
Chances are Interplay won't get any extra cash in terms of cash per single unit for the Steam version, as that markup is almost certainly going right into Valve's pockets.

I would not think so per unit, but Steam's subscriber base is high compared to other services. They might get a better deal elsewhere, but the exposure has to help a little at least.

Infogrames hold the Atari brand name. But Namco Bandai bought Atari Europe out.So unless Namco Bandai have taken over the D&D license, it rests with Atari US. Which, in turn is likely to be bought by Sony. Neither buyout is good news for PC gaming. Especially RPG fans. Namco & Sony couldn't give a toss about the PC. So maybe Interplay could run off with it in the confusion. We'll have to wait and see.

I was curious about what you said about who was editing those forums. So I went over to look at the Steam Interplay forum and the three Interplay games forums. The same five people were moderating all four forums and two of those five are Valve employees. Looks to me that they are serious about keeping people from here.
My theory about why they are so serious about deleting GOG from posts while allowing people to talk about D2D, Gamersgate and others is that GOG actively promotes no DRM. This must be pretty scary to Valve.
EDIT: My mistake on those moderators at Steam. Actually three of the five are Valve employees! ;)

I see people saying that they're going to buy it from GOG all over that one link. What makes you guys think that they're eliminating every reference to GOG?

Maybe because they can't catch everything? But I posted something last night and it disappeared. And I saw another post this morning that is now gone. So this is happening.

Keep in mind that different regions will have different licensing agreements. While it may be perfectly legal for them to continue selling/producing it in Poland, it may not be such in the US, UK, Australia, or anywhere else.
As for that Bundle in Poland, oh oh oh how I wish it was available in the US, or even English in another country that I could import it from.
As for the Fallout MMO there may be some confusion on who owns the rights to make it... Bethsida, Interplay or even Masthead Studios. That should be cleared up fairly quickly though.

True, it may well be region specific. Although usually it would cover the entire EU. Which would mean it was also available in the UK and thus in English. I don't think that the DD version was region specific. But it was a part of a subscription service so it wasn't any interest to me.
The Fallout license rests squarely with Bethesda. They began production of Fallout 3 under license, but then decided to buy the IP outright. That's why the Fallout games here on GOG are trademarked to Bethesda.
Bethesda then turned the tables by licensing Fallout back to Interplay specifically to produce an MMO. However, Interplay have failed to meet certain agreements regarding their progress on the MMO and in the two years they've had, they haven't started full production or acquired the necessary funding.
If that's true (and I doubt that Bethesda would take legal action on a lie) then Interplay don't have a leg to stand on and it will be over faster than most games industry lawsuits.
It's a shame really. I was looking forward to Interplay getting back into the scene, even if it was on an MMO.

Interplay did sell the IP, but retained the option to develop the MMO (if production started within 2 years) and they then went to Masthead Studios for the actual development of the game. The confusion rest in the question of "did 'full' production start within 2 years, or did it start after that?" If I remember correctly the questions and confusion arised just within the last 3 months, and it's a fairly easy question to figure out. Just that the public hasn't been made aware of the answers yet.
As for the bundle pack, I guess I should look harder into the UK version of it. Maybe it is available, in which case I'm going shopping. :)

From a legal standpoint, Bethesda did then own the full rights to Fallout. The rights Interplay had weren't retained as their rights to the license had changed. Their rights were granted to them, and apparently only under certain conditions too.
I'm not sure why Bethesda are pulling the plug. Either they think that the MMO is going to fail one way or another, like the vast majority of MMOs do. Or they're strongly considering making an MMO themselves - as they've long considered making - only using the Fallout universe.
They were going to make an MMO out of Morrowind and said that they'd consider making an MMO only if they could make one that brought something new to the MMO table. Recently, they have ruled out the possibility of their next major game being TES and joked about making an MMO. It's not completely impossible that they've started work on a Fallout MMO. After all, Take Two did something similar when it saw 3D Realms was in its death throes. It would be a dick move on Bethesda's part if that's the case though.
Personally, I'd rather they didn't. Not only do I not like MMOs and/or subscription based gaming, but it would also significantly delay any other gaming projects like WoW did with Blizzard.
If that bundle is in the UK and I've somehow missed it then I'm going to be simultaneously pissed off and ecstatic.
