I recently picked up that slew of 32 Interplay games from the promo. I'm sure there are a few duds in there, but I wondered if anyone could recommend which would be good to try out first. I have looked around a bit in Giants: Citizen Kabuto and Sacrifice based on the basis of their glowing reviews. The reviews for Messiah and Evolva are not as good but they looked interesting. What are some favorites that you have experience with?

Sacrifice is the best game in the bundle, with the other Shiny games(Messiah, MDK and Earthworm Jim) coming a close second. Also, Giants: Citizen Kabuto was made by former Shiny Entertainment employees, so you know it's good ;)
Licurg will probably enter this thread soon and say Sacrifice :P But that is not a bad recommendation, Sacrifice is an outstanding and very different game. Personally I think these are the highlights:
Freespace-series
Sacrifice Fallout-series
Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business

*edit* Dang, too slow!

Anyway, Evolva was was a game that I got through a game magazine subscription a long while ago, and I did not enjoy it all that much. Far from the worst game out there, but not great either Giants on the other hand is really nice. I've played better, but the combination of quirky humor, solid gameplay & a nice art style does make it a fun game to play. Sadly Kabuto himself, the person giving his name to the game, is not all that fun to play :( But that is only one part of the game.

Way ahead of you :D And stop misspelling my name...
If you like (grand) strategy games, make sure to try Conquest of the New World. That game is amazing.

Actually, he'll come in so soon he's already been here! :-)

Sorry about that. I made an edit that fixed that. That h just feels like a natural part of your name :P
I am interested in trying all those you have listed except for the Jagged Alliance one as any militaristic theme is a strike against a game in my book, as are very old school graphics, and that game seems to feature both. I will eventually mark the thread as solved, but I'd like to give others an opportunity to make their recommendations, I am hitting +1 for each of you for your responses though.

Oh, and remember to play VR Soccer as well. You might know it as "Actua Soccer", it's really good.

I'm not a sports fan but I was looking over that and it seems to be done well enough to be worth trying anyway.

He's just messing with you - VR Soccer is widely considered te be an utterly poor game.
That said, one man's trash can be another man's treasure...
EDIT: It seems he wasn't messing with you after all.
Also, I've not seen any recommendation for Shogo. If you like FPSs, you should definitely try that - it has some very nice gameplay and well-made and designed levels. Also, the story is not half-bad for a shooter.

It's a sports game. Gamers hate them.

It's an old football game. It's as good or bad as the rest from 1996. Good for nostalgia if you played VR soccer (Actua Soccer) back then.

No, I'm not. I played it when I was a kid, and it was one of my favorite games.

Sorry then, I've seen members jokingly recommending that game, so I thought you were doing that, too.
Giants is the first thing you should play. Then I recommend MDK (but be prepared for rather archaic mouse control that's awkward for a while until you get used to it, then it's brilliant) and MDK2 after that. Fallout games are great when you have time to get into a big RPG. Descent hold up surprising well if you're in the mood for a 6DF shooter, especially if you happen to have a joystick.

I think you meant Sacrifice.
