Hey all, I've been around here on the forums for a short while, and I've been really impressed with the overall level of generosity and kindness here. I was also shown a personal kindness from a very friendly stranger already, though I've hardly been around long enough to have "earned my way" around here...
I'm a bit more of a lurker by nature, but plan on sticking around here for quite some time, as the atmosphere here is fantastic, and it's a given that GOG is awesome as well.

ANYWAY, on to the giveaway! I am low on money, but paid $0.99 for the first 8 games of the Interplay bundle. Includes:
Conquest of the New World
M.A.X. + M.A.X. 2
Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business
Shattered Steel
Screamer
Evolva
Kingdom: The Far Reaches
VR Soccor '96

As I only have 10-or-so rep myself, I feel I should leave the rep requirement at 10, but if in future giveaways you all think it's better to pick a number using random.org or some such, I'm open to any suggestions.
To enter, tell me who your favorite fictional character is and why (literary fiction by default, but if otherwise just specify). I'll pick a winner using random.org later tonight (Friday, Oct 26th) probably around 8pm EST or so. Happy Friday :)
Not entering, but I'd still like to say that my favorite fictional character from literary fiction is probably the Frankenstein monster. One of the best books I read in high school.

Not entering, but you'll probably find more interest in this *after* the promo is over. Right now, anyone can buy those 8 games for a penny. They'll be at least a *little* more valuable after the promo ends.

True, good point. I suppose if there's no interest I can just re-post them at a later time for someone. :)
Not in (I already own it, thanks to tarunmutreja), but thanks and +1, akhliber!

Please check my avatar for one of my favorite characters (hey, there are books about him & his fellows) :D
Not entering either, but on the subject of what requirement to choose for a contest, it can be anything you want. You can even put a "you must be this tall to enter this contest" sign if you want!
What I think is the most important is having something more than just a random raffle. Ask people to be creative, that'll make for a more interesting thread than people just going "I enter".

And as for my favourite fictional character, that's a very tricky question, but I think I'll go for H.G. Wells's invisible man, in keeping with the fantastic setting, because he is as the same time a tragic victim and a real bastard, using his powers for evil. That makes for quite a complex character that you can't really love or hate.
my favorite fictional character:
Martin Silenus from Dan Simmons Hyperion Cantos.

he can go from likeable to detestable i just a few chapters and back again, a genius, a lunatic, someone damaged on a near immortal human on a trek throughout centuries starting at the destruction of the Earth and extending time through nearing faster than light travel and cryogenics.

Let's get your rep up :)
Hmm my favorite fictional character. That's pretty hard to choose. At current, while reading the "A Song of Fire and Ice" books, I'll go with Tyrion Lannister. Gotta love the dark self critizing dark humour. Still have to figure out where he stands and how things will devellop but he has the potential for good or evil. If it can be described as such. Interesting stuff :).
I'm not entering, but +1 for the giveaway, and welcome to the community. I was also a lurker for a long time before I dared to post anything, but I'm glad I finally stepped out of the shadows :).

I have way too many favourite fictional characters (if I start to think about it), so I'll just mention the ones that pop into my head. From the "A Song of Ice and Fire" books, I like Arya Stark for being a badass at such a young age (considering her recent upbringing, she's probably going to turn into an assassin). Tyrion Lannister is also a favourite of mine.

From more "classically literary" novels, I like Harry Haller from Steppenwolf by Herman Hesse and Orlando, from, well, "Orlando" by Virginia Woolf. I can relate to them both on an almost frightening level.

I'm in. I have many favorite fictional characters but one of them is Scarface from the 80s movie Scarface, because he has a really strong personality.
Not entering but thanks for you giveaway, akhliber! :) +1
To the first novel that l I read and one that I still remember very vividly. To Frankenstein's monster who was one of the most profound and sympathetic characters ever conjured up....much akin to the elegy of Prometheus.I remember being bullied in school back then, having no friends and it made me feel in a manner similar to that of the monster so intricately woven in Shelly's fantastic narrative. That being said, I really hated the movie since it never quite did the novel any justice.

James Bond
Such a badass in book, movie and game form
He is closely followed by Geralt whom I first discovered due to the game The Witcher but came to enjoy reading about in the currently translated Witcher books (hurry up Times of Contempt)
My favorite fictional character is straight out of the Marvel comic books. :)

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. A very deep character that has many conflicts and troubles, even though he is a superhero. "With great power comes great responsibility."

My favorite fictional character is probably Postal Dude, from the Postal games. I get him...
