Removing control? Are you sure you play games on your PC? Let me just remind you that physical games on consoles are completely DRM-free (you obviously need the disc in to play the game, but that's as far as it goes). You can share, buy, sell a second hand copy. On the PC, well, you know the deal. "Control" is something that probably applies more to PC gaming than consoles nowadays to be honest.

The US Department of Defense certainly believes it. They built a supercomputer out of either PS2s or PS3s.

Console are built differently. It's not like comparing an expensive car vs. a cheaper car. It's more like comparing a huge textbooks with lots of graphs and questions vs. a romance novel. Both are books, but they're simply built differently. Giving a romance novel when a textbook is needed won't get the right result, even if the romance novel is longer/bigger/has more information.

With regard to value for money on computing power, there is one other point that sticks in my mind,,, it is the law of miniaturization. A laptop is more expensive than a PC because of miniaturization, a tablet is more expensive than a laptop because of miniaturization, A desktop PC is quite large, larger than a console, so how then can a console be cheaper?

Yes there is the story about making the money back on the games, but who really believes that???

Edit: there is the issue of software specialization i can understand the advantages here.... and I'm no fan of how Microsoft operating systems make PC's so wonderfully efficient! But that is not computing power, that is simply using less power more efficiently, and if you were smart enough, you could just as easily do that with a PC.

Yeah those people daring to play video games on anything other than a PC capable of playing modern video games sure are dumb! I bet they don't even play Dungeons and Dragons! Silly non-Dungeons and Dragons playing console video gamers, don't you know that the PC is the only real way to play video games? After all, the PC was designed entirely to play video games and that's why all modern PCs can play all modern games (depending only on their operating system) regardless of processor, graphics card, RAM etc etc!

You can also look at the AC4 comparison if you wish, all of them prove my point. If we can't use multiplatform games to compare the performance of PCs and consoles, how else can we compare them?
