Just got myself a free (and autographed) copy of DoW2 care of a compo on neoseeker and I'm having trouble with the install. It goes though the process until it gets to the end of "preparing components for installation" and then just hangs.
I'm hypothesising that it's having trouble connecting to steam because I'm capped and back on shitty dialup speed for the next 4 days, would this be a correct supposition? I'm sort of doubting it the more I think of it because I was able to have the steam app open and showing me as logged in so Im a bit confuzzled again.
I've also read of a patch that weighs in at 130MB, would that be the source of my problems? I was rather hoping that it wouldn't try to install patches until the game itself was installed, especially since I've told steam very specifically to never auto-update but we all know those settings mean jack shit when software has got its mind made up about something.
Any suggestions on what I could do that might let me install my new game before friday?

Aliasalpha: Personally I like the games for windows live thing, especially how its a unified profile with the 360, if they ever make the gaming handheld that they've had rumours about since the original xbox dropped I hope they continue the trend

I love GfWL except for the install limits they apparently tell no one about.
Well I've certainly not been informed of any, whats the deal with that?
