Jason Rohrer of Sleep is Death fame has released his latest game, Inside a Star Filled Sky. It's a procedurally generated game that works by...umm I'm not quite sure how to explain it too. Reading PC Gamer's preview of it (on Jason's site) is probably the best way to get an idea of what it is.

In any case, it is currently donation-ware. Get it while it's hot!
Well just tried it for about half an hour. The idea is pretty neat, and as mentioned, you can get a good gauge of what the concept is about on the PC Gamer preview.

Unfortunately, while the concept is very clever, the only response I could elicit after playing the actual game itself was "ehhh....okay..." The shooting mechanics didn't seem very special, from what I could tell, although the power-up system was neat. To be blunt, I wouldn't pay more than $2 for this, not including the mandatory $1-2 bandwidth costs. I'll give this a go again tomorrow, but atm I don't see this having a lasting place on my desktop. Of course I didn't like Desktop Dungeons either, so my poison may be the next person's meat :)
Yeah, I read the preview and looked up a video on Youtube, but while it's a clever idea, I don't think I'd get much out of it. It seems to be a game for coffee breaks, and I'm not really a fan of those.
i dont get why jason rohrer gets that much attention.
Sounds... intriguing. Reminds me of Inception.
But will it keep me interested in playing it?

Well, Sleep is Death was kind of a big accomplishment. This new game doesn't sound great to me.

Well, he had lots of praise before Sleep is Death, but I find his game mostly simple and stupid. He's like a lesser extent will wright.
