I actually had this classic conversation with my gf a while ago:

gf: Who was St Patrick?
Me: the patron St of Ireland, he chased all the snakes out of Ireland you know?
gf: But there's no snakes in Ireland!
me: Precisely!

One of those conversations you hear of but never think will come off right in real life - the 'living the dream' of conversations right there!
(and yes, I know it was a metaphor for pagans really)
I had a stupid conversion with a friend about a year back.
Him: I picked up GTA IV yesterday (saying iv as in the name Ivy).
Me: It's GTA 4
Him: No, it says IV, I-V on the box. (gives me the box and points out how I am wrong)
Me: It's a Roman numeral.
Him: No, it's set in America. You're thinking of Assassins Creed.
I then go on to waste an hour or so explaining the use of roman numerals as numbers, and that I know that GTA 4 is set in Liberty City, a pretend New York.
