jefequeso: Which is totally fine. It's not a game for everyone--and I don't say that in a condescending "oh, you're just not SOPHISTICATED enough to understand it" way. There are some parts of its design that I could see being really offputting to some people. The biggest thing you need to be aware of is the style of combat (which I think I touched on when I suggested the game to you). Not smooth or arcadey by any means. The game is far more like a emergent puzzler than a shooter, actually.
A puzzler would be fine, but I got the impression it doesn't have a real goal and you just play around with it? Anyway, $1,60 isn't all that much, maybe I'll just buy it and see for myself.

Yes, there's that aspect too. There isn't a goal. Well...you can set goals for yourself.

It's worth a try, if just to see how interesting it is. But I wouldn't spend money on it if you're sure you won't enjoy it.

Morohtar: Artist/Coder of Metal Dead here, just sent you an email Fantasysci5. Thanks for all the support. :D

Not sure where thebum06 got his information from. All paypal takes is 5% + 5c from each transaction. The devs get the rest. Jeez, if it was 30c I don't think I'd be able to feed myself. lol
Is it true that Indievania takes a 50% cut from additional donations? That seems a bit high... The share of money you receive from my payment would actually do down if I donated more, very significantly.

...you realise Indievania takes no cut from the actual price of the game right? They survive entirely on the tips which, yes, are split evenly between the developer and Indievania.

Yes, I understand that. But when I'm looking to pay double the price or more to reduce the percent that goes to PayPal, it feels kind of counterproductive (nothing against Indievania)... counterproductive's probably the wrong word... 'unbalanced' or something.

I should also add, I'd like to give you, SirPrimalform, a big word of encouragement for what you've been doing in the extended gaming community, lately.

Yeah, I agree it'd be better if every game was treated as PWYW with a minimum of whatever the game's price is and then a separately defined Indievania tip.

I get my info here . I'm not sure if there's some special deals or anything I don't know of, but they're not mentioned there at least.
Here is a game I would recommend that is not on sale.

Dragon Fantasy is a an 8 bit style RPG with 3 different chapeters to play. Each chapter takes a few hours to complete. It only costs you $1. It was an IOS game that got ported to MAC and PC

Just trying to recognize your efforts and inadvertant stumbles which help Indievania show an accurate reflection of the DRM contained in our purchases, among other things :D

Good job! Keep on rocking in the free world =D

Edit: Keep on stumbling, you serendipitous oaf! :P

If you look at the thread, that's not actually what I was going for. :P
I was just asking if they could be more clear on what did and didn't have DRM (and it was purely selfish I assure you). But yeah, I suppose I may have inadvertently caused them to go DRM-free. <_<

Not that that's a bad thing.
Oh, this looks good. Best of luck to these guys!

This is a double edged sword... I have offended the developer of UnEpic because they took his game down on account of the DRM. :S

I must stress: this was never my intention, I just wanted more info à la GamersGate.

Leroux: Nah, he explained that he was looking at it from the developers' point of view. Apparantly each time you use PayPal to pay $1 for a game, 30 ct plus a percentage of the price go to PayPal. He'd rather that PayPal wouldn't get that much money and that the developers would keep more for themselves.
Paypal obviously needs more competition. By taking at least 30c per transaction, they are reducing the usefulness of exactly the kinds of micro transactions that online payment services could be good for (for sellers and buyers alike).
Am I missing something or can you only buy one game at a time?

You're not. Read through the thread, it's been covered.
