I do like card games (for instance Etherlords was super fun) but this one seems a bit odd to me, mostly due to the whole poker/real card thing.

The poker/real card thing is just one part of the battle system. You make poker combination out of the cards and do basic attacks with them. Attacking and to a lesser degree getting attacked generates RPs (rage points), which you can use for runespells and attacking with allies. By default you have three APs (action points) per turn. Moving a card (to create combinations) or using a runespell or ally costs one AP, but for instance there's a runespell that gives you a one-time increase in AP. There's another annoying runespell that some enemies like to use that drains your RP for multiple turns.

It's kind of fun, but there's nothing card gamey about it besides the use of poker hands as combos and, well, the cards themselves.
And judging from what I just read on Wikipedia, it's not even remotely close to Etherlords. Which actually looks awesome. I'll have to track it down.

Yeah the poker mechanics aren't that strong it just uses the cards in a 'match five' formula. There's also a few ability cards like in Magic or games like that but nothing amazing. It's very basic. If you didn't like Puzzle Quest then you won't like this (which is arguably worse). I think it's okay, nothing amazing. Friend of mine gifted me his extra copy and I'm somewhat relieved I didn't even pay the low $2.50 price. All told I think the game is maybe ten hours or so max.
I will say the art direction, story, and writing is arguably better than Puzzle Quest and fairly polished and well done for an indie game... but... obviously you won't care about that if you don't enjoy the game play.

I dunno, I haven't played either Etherlords or Puzzle Quest so I can't give you a comparison or anything like that, but I'm enjoying Runespell so far. I think I've put in about 4-5 hours of playtime, and it feels kind of weird that I'm playing an RPG with no sort of equipment bonuses to look forward to, but it's my first card-based RPG and it's pretty fun.
The script could use a little work, but the art, sound, and overall polish is pretty well-done and easy on the senses.

I was playing Runespell for several hours right now and I must say it can be addictive. Poker mechanics are pretty basic (even stupid, because you may match 5 of a kind cards as you may steal cards from your opponent), but with runespells both attacking and defensive, some even passive, this is some nice fighting card game.
I'd like to see Spectromancer on sale on steam again, soon.

Original post updated with the new bonuses.
Seems like people are angry about the Zeboyd "games" bonus. I don't understand why people are so upset about something that a) they aren't required to purchase and b) doesn't make any guarantees about additional games for bonuses. I mean, the first bundle didn't even have a single extra game added.
