spoderman: Bad news about the jet ski game. The dev got a lot of negative comments on the game's Desura page about the DRM.. so now he's decided to remove the game from Desura after the current IR bundle is finished.. Direct quote:

"I'm truly surprised by how much of a reaction there has been to the DRM on this game. I guess people just really expect a DRM free game from Desura. This is our first game released to the general gaming community, but we have been making software for 8 years, all DRM controlled. In fact, its hard for me to think of any software that you purchase that doesn't come with an activation key. Almost all commercial software requires activation. People keep complaining that we are treating our customers like pirates, whereas in my opinion having an activation key / serial number is just standard practice. Unfortunately due to this negative backlash, with almost all recent reviews simply reviewing the game 1 / 10 solely due to not being able to install it more than 3 times for the $0.70 paid for the game, we plan on removing it from Desura after the bundle is finished. "
Ah well, good riddance. Only one other time have I had the displeasure of dealing with a developer so childish.
The dev just deleted that comment from the Desura page lol. No idea what he's gonna do now, but I agree he is acting extremely childish.

Just to reiterate what I said on PM, Desura probably made him take that comment down due to contractual terms of agreement. I'm sure Desura insists that a game stay on the site for a minimum fixed period of time.

Where's the contradiction in that? Just because something is standard practice doesn't mean it can't be bad.

If it's a rental at a rental price then SELL IT AS SUCH, STOOPID N00BS! It's amazing how such stupidity still exists even after all the backlash against DRM now.
I hate that I contributed even a cent to a dev who uses restrictive drm like that. I didn't even think to check the drm unfortunately :(

Oh well, I'll go vote "no" on that game's greenlight page to make myself feel better :P

I was about to do the same, but looks like their greenlight page has been removed?

Yeah, I went to greenlight after posting and noticed the same thing. I suppose it's kind of a good thing it's already been removed. But I feel a bit foiled xD

Accatone: You could do it in the past, but IR & Desura recently changed their settings and your Desura key is automatically redeemed in your account once you purchase an IR bundle

misfire200: Did they change it in the last month, because it was part of the AI War bundle that I was still able to do it...plus their is always the gift option.

nvm...figured it out...that is if you buy the key through an email already associated with a desura account=) I bought the indie royale through an email not associated with my desura account so it was not account locked. Always loop holes in every system, and gift buying works just as well. Thank you though for the heads up.
Thanks for the info. Need to remember to use my secondary email address to purchase any future IR bundles. Actually have to check the AI war one if the keys are already redeemed. :-/

Edit: Well, The Arclight Bundle games have not been put into my desura account despite using the same email. Do they activate automatically if I use the "view key" feature in the bundle page?

Dev sounds like a bit of a dickhead and not a realist (wtf was he doing releaseing a game on desura when he knows 85% or more of those games are drm free anyway..)
Yeah, the dev seems like a real newbie in gaming space. Someone should show GOG.com to him. He might have a heart attack seeing hundreds of 'commercial software' sold without DRM whatsoever :P

Why?
use this bundle tracker for all the bundles http://www.indiekings.com/p/bundle-tracker.html

Well, people above said IR desura keys would automatically be attached to your desura account if you used same email account you used to register it but as my edit above indicates it did not happen with The Arclight Bundle I bought earlier as it's desura keys are unredeemed. I would assume the auto redeem they've been talking about has something to do with have Indie Royale account that I don't have.

You also need to be logged in to your account for auto-redeeming.
I was recently in Japan, and used my laptop to buy some IR bundle. Even though I used the same email I normally use, the games didn't appear on my collection page. I had to manually enter the bundle key to redeem it.

Normally I use my desktop computer to buy games/bundles, and it has all sites (GOG, IR, Humble) logged in all the time. Whenever I buy a bundle using the desktop computer, it automatically appears in my collection.
