carnival73: Didn't think there was one but if Desua has more content...that won't last long. Steam won't let Desura out run them.

SirPrimalform: No, it seems more like they're saying "Sorry, the Desura version is inferior!"... I'm trying to work out if that's actually the case.
I'm not sure - I never really looked into the game that thoroughly.
Never mind - you lot can just carry on taking advantage of a system set up to be helpful for a customer. Sometimes humanity makes me despair and I am not surprised at all that DRM exist - humanity can not be trusted, it will take advantage out of a situation built on trust.

carnival73: So if there are duplicate games in the bundle either be ready to toss the duplicates or not purchase the bundle at all?
avatar
PenutBrittle: Duplicates are a separate beef. I've said my thoughts on those more than enough, it's up to the individuals.

It's when someone buys a bundle and hands off a Desura key to one person and a Steam key to another that's a whole different thing. You're making your own buy one get one free sale, and taking advantage of a company's goodwill. That really pisses me off.
In other words now two people have Anomally and neither of those people are me.

Visit SteamTrades.com

Or the Classifieds here - those keys are tossed around all over the place. Considering how I've seen others abuse them I do pretty well with handling mine fairly even if not immaculately strict to the concept.

I think I got Anomally on sale from Steam shortly after it's release for about $8.

Idealistically I prefer to trade dupes whenever possible but keeping up with the trading scene the few bundle keys I'm missing are no longer easy to be found.

Either way though, my intentions were not to undermind Desura's sale but rather to be charitable for those who currently could not afford it - this should be obvious though.
I want to get Anomality. Thanks!

Asbeau: Can I have the Desura key please?

carnival73: You were beat to it via PM but you're second runner. Need Anomally?

if you want to be charitable for those who can currently not afford it, then buy them a frigging copy. That should be obvious enough.

So you trash your dupes?

The people accepting key hand outs, for the most part, are college students living daily on Ramen - not the big charity contributors these bundles need who would purchase for themselves anyway.

Well...I'm not exactly dripping in gold either....the last three days of the week before pay day I'm at the pawn shop.

And just one of those copies is actually paid for.

You're being charitable at the expense of others, which isn't charitable at all. Calling it charity is laughable. You own Anomaly and hand out an extra Steam key, fine. The Desura key is not a duplicate, it's a convenience that you're exploiting for additional copies.

This is why there's so many DRM-only releases, people. As soon as you offer a system that asks users not to take advantage of it, but doesn't actually treat the customer like a criminal, everyone takes advantage of it and acts like a criminal.
Just think how "charitable" you can be by giving away a DRM free link to millions! Everybody wins (except the developer, but who cares about them.)

Looking at both Steam and Desura they both offer the Enhanced edition. Royale is promoted by Desura so, more than likely, Desura updated their Nile before beginning this bundle.

I thought they fixed that problem after the second Humble.

keeveek: Damn. The amount of people here, that feel the urge to feel better about themselves, and to prove on internet forum to others that they are better people than some stranger from Italy is so damn high on this forum.
THIS. SO MUCH FUCKING THIS.

The high-horsing I see going on here is absolutely disgusting, and I really expected better of this forum. I'm seriously wondering how many of the moral crusaders going on about how wrong it is to give out keys to a bundle and how they are depriving devs of money download abandonware, lend games to friends, and buy and sell used games on consoles (and sometimes PC, as far as it is still possible).

Now I'm going to play a game before I lose it completely.

So What I am I supposed to do with two copies of the same thing...? If I go buy a hot dog from a hot dog selling stand.. and get one free... how is it wrong to give that hot dog to a friend who couldn't buy a hotdog?

AFnord: I thought Enchanted edition was the "Children of the Nile Pack", which would contain Children of the Nile +expansion. But when I activated my key, I got Hinterlands as well. No expansion though, but upon further research (i.e. looking at the store page) I can see that the expansion is not a part of the enhanced version.
Uh, I didn't get Hinterlands.

There's an entry in the Steam database for Children of the Nile and Hinterland, but I only got a Nile key. The heck?

jamyskis: The high-horsing[...]
That's funny, I call it "honesty". You know, as in "not going against someone's will just because you feel like it".

So, you really have no idea what the difference is, but assume the Steam version is the lesser one?

It is not "two copies of the same thing", it will only be "two copies of the same thing" if you buy the indie bundle twice. If you do not is two copies of two different things.
