The final frontier of online privacy.

Redshirt, a deep-space station sim game that's a spot-on satire on social media "relationships", as well as a smart Star Trek parody that should resonate nicely with the series' fans, is available 75% off today on GOG.com. That's only $4.99 for the next 24 hours.

Social Networks: The Final Frontier of human privacy and dignity. This is Redshirt, a comedic deep space life sim focusing on online social life of the crew of a space station. Their mission in life: to post the pictures of their odd looking, tentacle waving lunch on their Spacebook profiles, to stalk their crewmates private holograms, to boldly collect more "friends" than anyone collected before. Fair warning: in this game, your character is low-ranked deck hand wearing a red uniform. On a deep space mission. In space. Avoid being put on away teams at all cost! This game is an absolutely bonkers look at life in the future, mixes together strategy, interpersonal conflict, Sims-like professional development--and a fair measure of Machiavellian inter-station politics--into a solid bundle of fun that's sure to amuse anyone who's a critic of modern society's habit of sharing, liking, posting, pinning, plussing, and friending so much that they miss the alien about to eat their face.

If you scorn social media and everything they stand for, you can still see what is that you actually hate without being forced to tweet, like, share, or tumble, by keeping it all in a great trek-themed sandbox environment provided by Redshirt, now for only $4.99 on GOG.com. The 75% off discount offer will last until Thursday, March 20, at 10:59 GMT.
hmm, what the hell, I'll give it a try. Sold to the tired looking man in glasses and not a spacebook like in sight.

Faithful: I have wanted to purchase this title, but the cost was too high at the start.

After reading on the official forums about a number of bugs and lack of fixes for those bugs, as well as the developer not responding to bug questions, it feels even at $5 like it is too dear of a cost for a partly broken game.

I wish I knew if they were going to keep fixing this title as I would like to buy it.

EDIT: had the price a buck too much, fixed.
I've played some of his other games and the support is usually pretty good.

Positech is basically a one man gaming Studio, and he has several other games to support as well, so I think it's more a matter of slower support than lack of support.

One guy can only do so much :)
I've played this game for a bit elsewhere, and I enjoyed it a lot. So bought this game here at a such a steal now. :D

This is closer to the price the game should have launched at.
I think I have a steam version of this. However I much rather prefer the GoG version and its at 75% off so yeah I'm sold. Thanks gog! ^_^

Yep, I know this and agree with you. I own several other games by Positech. Redshirt seems to have less love than other titles though.

Went ahead and purchased, but I really hope this sees future updates.

tinyE: This game looks incredibly difficult.
It's actually not too bad. The amount of superfluous information on the screen can be intimidating at times but in the end, Redshirt is just a time management sim.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the developer is actually The Tiniest Shark which is a one woman show. Positech is publishing it (which as you say, is a one man show) - so there's actually potentially two people involved with support for this game :P. That's a 100% increase! ;)

Agreed
Having played the Steam version this game appears rather thin to me... Played right(exploitatively) I think it can be beaten in very short fashion... But that is probably part of the point, in the end I feel that there is certain lack of meat...
Cool, one less game on my wishlist :)

Rambutaan: okay, at least Redshirt probably won't provide your information to US intelligence agencies
Marked your review as helpful. I'd also mark it as genuinely funny, if I could! Thanks!

I'll probably wait until the price goes down even further. I'm a huge Trek fan, but I just can't see myself enjoying a (satirical) facebook sim.
Scored it :)

I hope Positech brings more of their games here in the future!
Please, please, let the tomorrow releases be Risen 1 & 2!
Great game, great discount! Excellent promo!

It's one of the Hitman games. Or at least, that was the Enigmatic Hint.
