Survival of the sweetest.

Long Live the Queen, a complex political thriller full of violence, hate, and tough choices, masked by deceptively cute visuals, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours!

[url=http://www.gog.com/game/long_live_the_queen][/url]Long Live the Queen is a brutal game. Your heroine will try to escape the many dangers awaiting a young heiress to the throne, and will often fail, ending up dead, leaving the kingdom at mercy of it's many enemies. Luckily, you'll be able to back up on your mistakes, probably just to witness another death of the princess. When you're but a child, suddenly burdened by the crushing weight of responsibility, every little decision you make might prove to be your last. This complex and challenging royalty sim will crush your hopes many times, before you manage to protect the princess until the day of her coronation. There are secret plots at play, invaders at the gates, dark magical forces hiding in plain sight, assassins lurking in the shadows, and way too many suitors trying to get their hands on the young heiress' heritage. With non-linear gameplay, and great depth this cute-looking title will take even the most experienced gamer by surprise!

If you thought that the life of a princess is full of bliss, ballroom dancing, cotton candy, and ponies, it's about time you faced the terrifying truth in Long Live the Queen, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The 60% off Gem Promo offer lasts until Thursday, March 13, at 10:59AM GMT.
Great promo (and I guess this is unrelated), but do you think we'll ever see a fixed up version of the Grandia II PC Port on GOG.com in the future?

VanishedOne: As I recall people were accusing it of being paedo-bait, owing to the young girl in the not-quite-upskirt pose and the screenshot about having an affair. Where have the accusers gone, anyway? This thread is letting me down on the perverse amusement front.

jamyskis: Well, it's not like people are left wanting in the JRPG field when it comes to jailbait girls in skimpy clothing. Disgaea, the Tales series, Neptunia Hyperdimension, Chantelise, the Atelier series, the list goes on...
That didn't stop people making a fuss about LLTQ on its GOG release thread. Yet the protest appears to have died out.
sooooooooooooooo upon checking out my "gifts" list I've found out that apparently I've given away a game that's never been reclaimed (I have absolutely no memory of this even so... go figure :D

if anyone wants a "Dungeon Keeper Gold", go ahead and grab the fruit out of this code:

2EJJ
MC2C
K5C7
4B9S

(PS: if it doesn't work, as it's showing "new" instead of "sent", not sure what that is, please let me know and I'll make this post disappear)
Well, that's interesting. I more or less ignored this one upon release, but recently saw it again while browsing and thought maybe I should give it a try -- nice timing with the promo. :)
Without fail. Bought it on Steam for full price a couple days ago. Damn it!

Yeah, kind of goes with the territory in this genre. Plus it's more of a VN than a jrpg isn't it? Even moreso there. If there are no hentai scenes your ahead of the game, game.

I've been interested in this one but haven't seen a price to bite yet. Nice sale!

this game has absolutely nothing in common with hentai or jrpg... it's a game very similar to Zafehouse: Diaries or King of Dragon Pass - its graphics look cute but the gameplay is brutal - you need to teach your "princess" all the necessary skills in a very short time to be able to survive... you neglect the politics, somebody will take over your kingdom, you neglect the communications, you won't be able to understand someone is plotting against you... and so on

this is no game for masturmasters or otaku kings, this is a pure survival horror! (ehm, without the horror element that is, it's just survival and learning to choose your skills to survive)

HAH HAH! *points and laughs, Nelson style*

Seriously, couldn't you at least buy it full price here on GOG instead?

But this makes me wonder, if you buy a game here full price, and the next day ( or a few days later ) it goes on sale, will GOG grant you store credit or something? I think Amazon does that sort of thing.

I'd say it has a whole lot in common with those genres, including the visual style and character designs; it's just lacking the actual hentai. For better or worse. :D

The visual style is actually part of what put me off of this title at release, since the whole kawaii desu thing isn't really my cup of tea. I think I would have preferred a more mature style, as in The Banner Saga or King of Dragon Pass. But at the current price I'm willing to give it a shot.

your loss :o) but I guess I can understand that when someone really hates something, he can't overcome it just by will...

How about Breath of Fire IV or some older Final Fantasy games, for that matter? I'd definitely be up for some more games by Asian Publishers/Developers.

Eh? Are you talking about my dislike for the game's visual style? Hate is really too strong a word for it. I used to watch Anime myself when I was younger, just kind of grew out of it, in part because it's so overdone.

I already bought my copy of the game, taking advantage of the current promo. And hey, I wouldn't mind seeing more visual novel style games here, as long as they're good.

I don't really know if I should buy this game. Maybe the gameplay is good but the graphics causes eye cancer.
It looks like a girlie game.

oh, sorry, thought you were one of those "if it's animated and looking japanese like it has to be porn BURN IT!" :o)

yeah, I know it's hard sometimes to see past the visuals and truly understand the game mechanics, but in this game it's really very simple - the developers chose this style to emphasize the absurdity of child becoming a monarch, and even though the available lectures are extensive, you still can't get even close to learn them to perfection...

I myselft think the visual style absolutely matches the gameplay and script.. :o)
