A perfect mix of tower defense and RPG, now both in fantasy and Sci-Fi flavor!

Defender's Quest, an addictive mixture of tower defense and RPG set in a world shattered by mysterious disease, is available 83% off, on GOG.com. That's only $2.49 for the next 24 hours!

Did you ever want to have special psychic powers that would let you toy with souls of living human beings and bind them to your will? Please don't answer. Azra, the Royal Librarian, never asked for such a thing. In fact, she never asked for any of the ordeals that fate put her through. But--willing or not--she's become a hero and the future of her homeland depends solely on her. All because of her suddenly discovered ability to turn her companions into etheric specters and command them like pawns around a battlefield existing outside space and time. Wanna hear a secret? She's starting to enjoy it.

Defender's Quest does many things that many games fail to do. First of all, it's a tower defense game that never gets boring. That's mostly achieved by mixing in many RPG elements. That leads us to another thing that this game gets right--mixing genres. Nine times out of ten combining so very different gaming philosophies will backfire. Here, we've got the lucky number ten, that managed to hit the sweet spot and emerge as a perfect and seamless combination. The gameplay here is just as much enjoyable and intuitive, as it is fresh. The brilliant, unforced humor serves as the cherry on top. You'll be enjoying this game for hours. Be warned, though--it's quite addictive! The game comes with a full MP3 soundtrack and an official mod turning the original fantasy campaign into campy Sci-Fi flick.

Answer the mysterious call, grasp the mystical power, and face the ominous force that plagues the Valley of the Forgotten. Are you prepared for hours of enthralling gameplay? Get your copy of Defender's Quest, for only $2.49 until Thursday, February 20, 10:59AM GMT.

UPDATE: There's a lenghty browser-based demo of the game RIGHT HERE (with the option to export your progress into the full version).

I bought from previous promo. Definitely great game and worth the price.
One of my most favorite games. When I first saw it, I thought it looked a little silly, but after playing the demo, I just didn't want to stop playing. It's definitely the RPG elements of building your characters that make this game so addicting.

I also do not get the suggestions by some earlier that this game is short or too easy. Trying to get all of the stars in the game is difficult enough, but then you get an even higher difficulty level in "new game+" and after that there's the ridiculously impossible challenge of "hero mode". I've put upwards of 50 hours into this game and I still haven't *completely* finished it.

Excellent game with a very communicative and responsive dev.

stressthesky: There's a couple of gold stars on NG+ I'm sure are downright impossible.
Nothing is impossible :) I got all of them, 201 gold stars :D:D:D Although I must admit - it's very difficult and there was time that I also though it's impossible to get all of them. It turned out I made a serious mistake - I chose the same skills for every character from the same class. Then I realized it's a waste of their potential. You should try to specialize your characters. The most prominent example is knights - you don't need 6 armor destroying guys. Two or three is usually enough to bring every creature's armor to 0.
Nice promo again! I've already got this one. I've 1st played the demo and later bought it on the past winter sale. Let's say why it's a good game.

- Interesting story
- Main characters are well-made and have their own personality
- Nice flow of gameplay
- Good artwork (at least for me)
- Customizable hotkeys (the default setting is not a problem, though)
- Customizable hirelings' name & appearance (at any time, should you change your mind)
- Every level can by replayed with different setting of difficulty (monsters can walk across water on harder difficulty!)
- Great export feature (even for the Flash demo)
- Each level is not too long

There may be more. But this should be enough to get the idea. It'll be a greay buy! :)

Thanks for the tip. Yeah, all of the characters in my classes are built up exactly the same. I'll try to redistribute the points.

One more tip: keep the distance between your characters. It's fairly obvious that ice and fire effects cancel each other but what's also important and easily forgotten - most of special effects don't stack. So if a monster that is already on fire gets hit by a fire attack it won't do any additional damage but your dragon will have to cool down for a long time before next fire attack. What a waste!

I would just like to point out that I have just submitted a fresh set of builds to GOG, version 1.1.45.
This fixes a few minor bugs, and adds beta versions of Russian and Korean translations (written by fan volunteers).

When that goes live, the total languages supported will be:
-English (official)
-German (official)
-Czech (fan volunteer)
-Russian (fan volunteer)
-Korean (fan volunteer)

What an incredible price.
Their discounts and their reviews made me buy this. :-)

I Bought this during a sale last summer, I think it is time I gave it a try.
That's pretty nifty to put that demo right on this page. Would not have tried it otherwise. Great way to spur sales even from those who are not attracted to the genre.

It's like when Google search engine puts it's silly little puzzles on the front page. I find it impossible not to give them a try.
I wanted to like this game, but there is absolutely no challenge whatsoever here. Once you beat a level and have the layout figured out, you can replay it in a matter of seconds for essentially unlimited experience. The only thing that could make this game easier is a giant clickable button at the top of the screen that says "WIN NOW."

Tower defense is one of my favorite genres, but I need at least a modicum of difficulty when I play. Skip on this and look into one of the many superior titles available online. There are too many good games out there to spend your time with this inflated tech demo.

No one is forcing you to exploit the game mechanics.
