Hexagons forever!

Battle Worlds: Kronos, a deep turn-based strategy game with very modern looks paired with old-school mechanics and hex-based presentaion, is available 50% off on GOG.com, for Windows and Mac OS X. That's $14.99 for the next 24 hours.

If you're an old-time military strategy gamer, Battle Worlds: Kronos will bring back many of your fondest memories. The playfield alone, divided into countless orderly hexagons, looks irresistibly familiar. Time-proven turn based mechanics allows for careful planning and provides room for the cleverest of stratagems. We're not big on the term "spiritual successor", as it is widely overused by modern game designers, but this is the spiritual successor to the classic Battle Isle series, if we've ever seen one. In this ambitious title, two single-player campaigns provide up to 30 hours of challenge and satisfaction, further extended by special maps and--of course--multiplayer modes, including the evergreen hot-seat option. Pair that with visuals absolutely perfect for a mid-range Sci-Fi strategy game, and what you get is a title no armchair general could possibly resist.

Bring order to the chaotic and dark times of the succession wars and lead humanity to victory--well, a part of humanity at least--in Battle Worlds: Kronos, for only $14.99 on GOG.com. The Indie Gem Promo offer lasts until Thursday, February 6, at 10:59AM GMT.

svmariscal: Well, that kind of settles it about the campaigns; nowadays I rarely have the time or patience for a months-long ongoing campaign. So, is the game worth it just for the single scenarios?
I'm afraid I haven't played any of the maps -- the first campaign was eating my brain as I tried to plan out my strategies in my sleep -- so I can't offer any advice on that, sorry.

I've played half the missions of the first campaign so far and think it's definitely worth $15. I liked it better than The Banner Saga, but that one is less of a time investment, so maybe that game would be better suited to your needs?

Trilarion: Backing here is more like donating so that the project really comes alive.
As far as I'm concerned that's the only point to backing - well, that and getting a physical manual whenever possible - and I'm glad I did for this one, because it's good.

Games WILL go on 50%+ sales nowadays anyway, and before that time we also had bargain bins, GOTY editions and Tipiak editions. If you want a game cheap, you always had a way, provided the game gets made in the first place. Backing solely to get a discount will never be the best deal if that's all you're after.
If only I had more money. I've wanted this since the kickstarter :(

I can imagine it will be on sale later this year though. I've followed updates as well and can tell it's better than what it was at launch.

Well, next christmas at the latest. I'll wait to see if the planned DLC's end up here. Don't want to buy half of a game.

Nice. I'll have to give it a check tonight (to be on time for the promo), and this might go better with a beer than risk of rain.

But don't let Sinistar know!
I have never heard of this game until now. It looks cool. Is it a good strategy game for someone who doesn't want to have a steep learning curve to learn to play? How is it for replay value?
Got it for a Christmas present. Havant played much of it but it is good not quite battle isle quality but still enjoyable.

Game card says (right at the bottom): "All users who buy the game will receive the DLC 'Trains' in early 2014, featuring a new campaign (~10 hours), additional multiplayer maps, and new units."
Yeah! It finally got discounted! Bought.

I hope I´ll end up enjoying this game, as I love Advance Wars series.
As a backer of BW:Kronos Kickstarter campaign, I can heartily recommend the game, I certainly have gotten my money's worth with it. Without delving into details - it's challenging and addictive, with pretty well thought out mechanics, great visuals and excellent music. The "only one more turn" factor is definitely there.
As for its flaws - I didn't find the story captivating (even though it does have its moments) and I wish there was a bit more variety in general (the three 'invader' factions share the exact same units, the majority of maps look overly similar etc.) - these are relatively minor issues in the grand scheme of things, however, considering how fun BW:Kronos is to play.

Time to grab this guy and put it on the "soon to play" list. Thanks for the promo!

towerbooks3192: On the scale of advance wars to something like Panzer General. Where is it? I kind of want a serious sort of advance wars game and not something like panzer general where I have to keep X units alive and have to finish a scenario on X number of turns. Looks pretty tempting.
I would be interested in hearing opinions on the above too. I don't think I can run this (due to gfx card), but I might be able to just barely make it work.
