EC-: For bigger games like Alan Wake and Painkiller, they have released standalone patches. So you've already gotten what you are asking for when it is appropriate. Given the size of Hotline Miami's installer, a normal patch wouldn't be much different in size. Do more research next time.

Paul_cz: Fair enough, however every game should have incremental patches, no matter the size. Reinstalling is just needless annoyance.
Pretty sure it's not to do with size. More to do with the way different individual developers give their updates to GOG.

Of course, but GOG should ask devs to get them incremental patches always - I mean, incremental patches are a standard, not the other way around.

Yeah, but because of platforms like Steam a lot of developers now just produce a new build. You ask the devs why they're not producing patches.

It is actually GOGs job. Not ours. We have a contract with GOG, not with the devs. When something with the game doesn't suit our liking, we go to the dude we have a contract with. They can than argue around with the devs.

I really hate the mindset of current retailers to weasel themselves out of their warranty obligations by pointing towards the manufacturer. Always go to the guy you have a contract with.

Paul_cz: You do realize that is 100% beside the point, don't you?
Not every game is going to have 173MB. I can"t believe I have to spell it out like this.
You do realize that for bigger games GOG usually provides sperate patches and that's why it makes perfect sense what Licurg said? Apparently it was either not worth it for a game this small or the dev is too incompetent to provide actual patches. So get a friggin' grip.

I'm getting tired of how you always explain everything from a legal standpoint which has often little in common with reality. And so what? GOG should only accept games if the dev can guarantee that he's gonna be able to provide separate patches? Cool, where's the problem except for the smaller amount of releases... so yeah, let's blame the devs because if they learn how pissed some people are they might actually create the stuff people are asking for.

Yet again a user is not happy with how GOG handles things.

And who is to blame? The user of course!

Two things:
Get off your high horse;
Read the whole thread next time.

You just complain about something worth complaining about next time.

You make a fair point, GOG is who we should go to, but ultimately they're just going to go to the devs. My suggestion was to speed things up.
It would be nice to see patches for newer games still getting them. I always hated the way Steam does it partially because the latest patch isn't always the best one or the one you want to use.
