So, I just saw your weekly episode of GOG.com on YouTube and it said that you will be increasing prices soon, at the developer's requests. I'm sorry, but that's BS. These are WAY old games that some of us already bought years ago and had to go through DRM and other mess to play, despite being paying customers and if we want to relive, or in some cases, now actually play (due to DRM like STARFORCE or pushing releases out before they were even playable), then you don't need to lop on extra charges to boot. If your company is suffering, it's because you got too greedy to begin with. I'm not paying for anything on GOG.com if this happens.

The increase in price is going to happen only to several Interplay titles, at the request of Interplay, not GOG.

They are only increasing prices for some Interplay games. You have a fair warning (about a week) and there is a sale on their current price.

Unlike other sites GOG are telling you that prices are going up for Interplay games and are giving you a promo to make up for it

I had to watch the vid myself. As Licurg says, it's only interplay that is increasing its prices not the whole catalog.

And how much will they cost ?

$10? $15? $20?

I wouldn't think so. Increasing prices is not a good public move so I don't see other companies doing it. Also the fact that GOG is telling us this information hurts GOG with future deals

Well, consider this...company X is charging way more than you for games made years ago. If they sell well, what happens when the demand stays the same and price goes up for one? Historically, other companies follow suit.

This is being seen in the physical resale of games in the industry now. Companies missed their opportunity to have players resell their games and the companies be able to get a cut of that.

The chances of Interplay games selling well after the price raise is low. We have had two sales on their game, so everyone who wanted Interplay games would have bought them already

If Interplay really wants to make prices for such old games higher... They really did hit the rock bottom

It's possible, but my understanding with this situation (the Interplay titles) is that the contract between GOG and Interplay is expiring and with the new contract Interplay is demanding higher prices.

Sure, other publishers may try the same tactics, but GOG can't just gut their catalog, so they have to go along with it if they still want to sell the games.

The best thing we, as consumers, can do is to not buy the games at the higher price points if we feel that it's not worth it. That should hopefully help to send a message to the publishers.

Really, in my case at least, nothing is going to change. I don't buy games here that I feel are too expensive anyway, so it's just going to be business as usual between me and GOG after this change in pricing.

Pretty much this. I get the feeling that Inerplay is crumbling and making a last ditch grab at raking in some extra money, so they basically said, "Raise our prices or lose our games". In any case, as other have said, I can't see them getting very many sales once the prices are raised. (and I highly doubt anything will go above $10, that'd just be silly).
