Hate me if you must, but somehow this thread's tiny number of entries and tiny number of votes is pretty funny. I think you could cut and paste it into a cynic's website and they'd love it!

I blew this contest somewhere. Perhaps it was the topic. Something positive: I think I may have earned a distinction award for "Worst Contest Turnout Ever". ;~p

Technically only one vote was cast because only one participant voted (stoicsentry). You didn't vote either hedwards! But maybe the fuzzy ducklings pic was poking fun rather than earnest participation?

Oh it sucked. A contest for best original insult would have fared far better I am sure. The result of this contest had an opposite affect from the intended search for positivity... for me anyway (though I did find value in the participants entries). And I did laugh at being humbled so. And I smirked at the irony of it all. The epic fail did smart a bit and took some wind out of my sails towards hosting future contests. But I bounced back like a buoy and am planning the next.

It was a very nice idea. Sometimes things go in an odd way, that's all. But since it turned out still good for a meta-laugh, there's still a sort of positivity in that, if only in a pretty dark way. :D To tell you the truth, reading the results gave me my first smile and genuine laugh in a really crappy day.

If you want uplifting stuff, go to any poetry forum that is open to random submissions just as spring is breaking. You'll find everyone remembering something about the world worth loving.

Of course, now that it's summer, maybe everyone will find something in the world worth burning?

No need for sorrow or apology. The subject was simply not compelling enough for most everyone. And as you say, some may have found it difficult to articulate this type of thought to text. No obligation so no regrets for not participating, nothing but voluntary fun... or not ;~)

Well, negativity is easy, to the point that I don't hang around internet forums much anymore. I'm sorry I only found this this evening. I'll save my entry to have something for the next time. I hope I happen to check here then.

For the next contest I am thinking along of the lines of a 3 part elimination competition leading to a final 4-6 player quest. The theme for the contest would be a Kings Quest of sorts. Part trivia or riddle solving, part flash game comp, part ?, concluding with a maze race. But it's gonna take me some time to earn enough money to sponsor the prizes. I get free lance labor work as I can. I'd like to grant minor prizes for the leaders of each elimination round. And a random draw for all those who don't advance to a following round. Then a grand prize of humble value for the final winner.

No need to check this thread for a second part to this comp. If I do something similar to it, I'll start a new thread. Not sure I will do another along these lines though. However, It was my hope that once the competition ended, people might still add to this threads content from time to time...

Some of these things sink because they have too narrow of a time frame. People will be off the forums for a bit, or busy at work or school or with family matters, or just too darn tired.

Maybe a solid month to drag up participants would be good.

That's true. My other contests were real-time posting events. But for an event like this one here, an extended timeline is best. Just have to bump it occasionally to keep it into the second page. And I could have added the word contest to the thread title. I decided not to in the hopes that the topic itself would draw participation. But in hindsight I suppose it mighta been needed.

Recently I participated in a by Rondel. Of course I did not hate the game in question, I just [url=http://www.gog.com/en/forum/general/a_contest_answer_a_question_about_crusader_no_remorse_and_win_a_game_i_like_panc/post4]posted it in an attempt to win the contest. Anyway, nearly the end of the thread I misunderstood Rondel's joke and thought I was disqualified. I admit I left the thread with a rather bitter feeling. Then yesterday I got a PM from Rondel, explaining that it was just a joke (I did not realize it was), and even gave me a game although I did not win the contest.

The game gifted to me is Earth 2150 Trilogy. Since it is not really my cup of tea, and since I reacted rather negatively that day, as a *punishment* to myself, with Rondel's permission I decided to give this game away. All credits to Rondel who purchased the game.

So, the first one to post positive thing in this thread will get it :-D

EDIT: It is now almost time I go offline, and so far nobody posts yet. So, I'll check tomorrow and give the game to the first one who posts positive thing, provided that the game code is still valid by tomorrow and has not been redeemed.

EDIT 2: Still nobody posts. If by tomorrow nobody posts and the game code is not yet redeemed, I will give it to someone in this thread by random. So, see you tomorrow, stay positive :-D
