LordCinnamon: Perhaps, but the lovely thing shared by capitalism and truth is that it only takes one person to make a difference.
avatar
anjohl: That isn't true at all...
A single person has as much impact in a capitalist society as he/she does in a communist one (none). A single person can convince a larger group, but convincing people tends to hinge upon them agreeing with the viewpoint (at which point, it is a group of people making a difference). As we have discovered, nobody wants to drink from your fountain of misinformation :p
As for "truth": I am not going to make a metaphor, and I am just going to use two phrases: "Cover-up" and "Nobody gives a crap".
And I think we already determined that "truth" is not on your side, considering that your initial complaint was one based upon misinformation, and your new complaint doesn't really make sense to anyone (but you).
Would it be nice if a single person could make a difference? Sure. But, generally, those single persons are wrong and/or not fighting for the greater good, so it tends to even out.
Applying Occam's Razor: If only one person gives a crap, it probably isn't important.

All anything takes in one voice, one truth. I have nothing more to say on this issue other than that I will not be using Impulse until they start making their service more intuitive and consumer friendly.

Again, it takes considerably more than one voice. But you get that if you actually have a truth (preferably that people care about).
As for the rest, works for me. Just make sure that you actually don't say anything more about Impulse until you actually use it :p. And when you do, please actually make sure that what you are saying is correct.
You want to bash them, bash them for the bass-ackwards archiving process and the fact that these promos don't open in the Impulse browser (I don't feel like figuring out how to associate a game with my account :p). But don't bash them for things that are untrue or don't apply to you.

I only ever say things which are correct, why speak otherwise?

If that was sarcasm: Apologies, it is kind of hard to tell on the internet.
If that was not: Do we really have to quote all your posts again? :p

Quote away :)

anjohl: Quote away :)

I restricted myself to the blatant stuff, rather than the things that could be argued as opinions presented as facts (since I do that too :p)

anjohl: So Impulse apparently expects users to install a NEW program that will deliver real-time ads/promotions to them in their windows tray, adn those offers (asside from word of mouth), cannot be viewed any other way.

It is not a new program, and the offers can be viewed very easily just by grabbing the coupon-code from another location (like the "Gaming Deals" thread :p)
avatar
anjohl: I didn't say it was LIKE Steamworks, I said that Impulse had complained about forcing consumers to install unneeded software, and implied they were being hypocritical by limiting sales to a select few who agree to be advertised to.

Again, the sales are not limited to those who agree to be advertised to. Just the advertisements are limited :p
And THIS is why I should not be unsupervised while benchmarking. :)

Gundato: Again, the sales are not limited to those who agree to be advertised to. Just the advertisements are limited :p

the exclusiveity I was referring to was an implied one created by Stardock. If one did not ACTIVELY seek out the "special" sale, an average Impulse user woudl be excluded. And that is factual. A misinterpretation is as deadly as a misquote.

And anyone who doesn't visit the Steam site at least once a week will miss out on sales there too.
Either way, that still leaves the first one (which is not a deadly misinterpretation, but instead a cuddly citation :p). I could also go into the previously mentioned cases of you "misinterpreting" yourself (but weclock already did that so well :p).
Take it from me, someone who spouts fecal matter about 43% of the time: Just give up and hope everyone forgets about this. And, considering that it is the holiday season and we just got a free game, I suspect that everyone WILL forget about this the next time you feel like bashing Impulse because Stardock farted on your corn flakes :p

I visit the Impulse site once a week, and miss all kinds of sales, I have *never* missed a sale on Steam.

it is not possible to misinterpret oneself. As long as the sender makes every possible attempt to have their message easy to interpret, then the onus is on the reciever to ensure they possess the nessasary capability to recieve the message. Again,
I cannot force any led horse to drink. But water is water.

Unless it is pee-pee. Then it is just yucky :p
And come on man, i was trying to give you a way out on that one. Oy.
But kudos on taking my advice on the other one. See, works great. Admittedly, it works best if you don't try to cover your butt on a different aspect, but whatever. :p
Completely unrelated:
Has anyone messaged the GOG people about removing the multi-quote restriction? It leads to a lot of inconvenience, and misquoting!
I love gog.com, it's the only forum I visit, but it can get annoying.
Fucking hell.
You could cut the sexual tension in here with a knife.
