Hi, does someone know where to buy this game online or if it is even working with win7?
Greets
The game seems to be Freeware now http://www.fileplanet.com/35911/30000/fileinfo/Imperium-Galactica-II no idea if it works on Windows 7 though. You can also buy Nexus: The Jupiter Incident from Steam which is essentially Imperium Galactica 3 in all but name, that works fine with Windows 7.
Nexus is considerably different - it has no strategic level, for example. I know it was meant to be Imperium Galactica 3 in the beginning, but it is not Imperium Galactica 3 in gameplay.
Regardless, Nexus is a great game by its own right, and quite unique.

That is filed under "Demos" on FilePlanet, you sure that's the full game?

I've downloaded it and it's indeed the demo.

Sorry about that, I didn't read the fine print. Game does indeed seem impossible to find.
Pardon me for bumping this old thread, I believe I have some news related this game.

Imperium Galactica 2 seems to be available for purchase at Ebay, Amazon and Play.com now.

I have the game myself but am struggling to make it work on my Win.7 64bit OS.
I believe I have come close using the Windows Compatibility Administrator/Toolkit.
Some error-messages have been eliminated and now have one left; the .exe needs the correct name of my sound driver in the .INI and as I had to create the .INI file for the game manually I have not managed to write the expected name .

I thought some of you would like to know.
Yes it works under win7 64, but not out of the box.

You need to find the patches for it (1.06, 1.08 and the fan made 1.14) google them.

You then need to run the ig2-nt.exe instead of ig2.exe

Brilliant game, well worth it if you are into 4x / rts.

If only this game was available here on GOG. (:

@stuart9001: Thank you for the information.
Actually, I have the patches (and the ig2-nt.exe file).
The fact that I can not run the setup-file is what seems to be the problem for some, including me. As a result, the sound driver/card information in the ig2.ini file is missing and the game does not start despite clicking "generate exception" in the error-message.
Not sure what to do with the setup file.

EDIT 1: I managed to run the setup file and thereby setting up the ig2.ini file correctly.
The game works now, without the need of additional tools. So it is confirmed; Imperium Galactica 2 works on Windows 7 64 bit OS.

However; the game seems to run too fast in. I guess you know the phenomenon of old games running super fast on modern hardware, that is what it looks like with certain parts of this game. Allowing only one processor for ig2-nt.exe did not help, I am not sure what might solve the issue.

EDIT 2: The game crashed when pressing the Design button when in-game (Kra'Hen campaign), the game probably is unstable on my OS, I suppose it would not happen on XP.

Try it without the 1.14 patch, just 1.06 and 1.08. It's a while since I last put it on and I seem to remember it working better this way.

I never had any problem with the installer.

The installer works fine, I meant the setup.exe in the IG2-directory that handles the game-settings like resolution, graphics driver etc. I got it to work despite it being unstable (black flickering and sometimes scr*wing my desktop settings). :)

I re-installed the game and applied only the 1.06 and 1.08 patches. The game worked, but with the same error (crash to desktop) when pressing "Design"- button in-game, and game still running too fast. I am confident IG2 does not handle 64 bit systems too well.
Right, that installer.

I have to assume that the game doesn't like your graphics card or you have a different version of win 7 then (I'm on home premium).

I have re-installed the game an yes it works fine on the 1.08 patch. No crash on the kra'hen design screen and seems to be in perfect time.
I found the game works for a bit in windows 7 but is prone to ctd for me.

Sad as i loved the game. Music is fantastic.
I see, it seems the game behaves differently from system to system.
I use Win.7 Professional with DirectX 11, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX, Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00 GHz.

I found out the Design button does not work at all, it was not just for the Kra'hen.

I suppose IG2 will work better on an older Win.XP-machine for me, then, or perhaps Win.98. =3

I have had another thought, are you trying to use virtual CDs'. I never managed to get it to work with this, and that was the only time I had any strange behaviour out of it.
