HereForTheBeer: ... PONG was sold as a single-game console for the home, and the Mattel handheld football game (that was awesome!).
OMG, yes! I remember playing that thing obsessively!

HereForTheBeer: I WISH I was old enough to remember the first human moon landing, but I had just turned 1 year old shortly before.
I actually do remember that...

I'm so old I remember when...

...computers used punch cards.
...cars didn't even have seatbelts
...tvs were black and white (and we only got 2 channels) and the signal was picked up via 'rabbit ears'
...if you missed something on tv, you missed it (no going out and buying it, no recording it and watching it later, you just plain missed it).
I remember getting Atari games under the Christmas tree, and all my Transformers were made of metal.

Still plenty of TV-time. I remember TV starting at 18:00 and ending with the clock around 23:30 or so (must have been older already, or I got to stay up late?). Only on Wednesday, from 15:00 onward, was there any TV broadcast in the afternoon (and saturday's maybe?). Every program was announced by a live broadcaster and commercials were only before and after the 20:00 clock news. The good old days when TV programs didn't get interupted with things they want you to buy.

That's not old! Internet seems like it was there forever, but it only became available outside of the military and a few universities in 1994. I remember a colleguea of mine telling about it and me wandering what the hell would be the use of some invention like that...

HereForTheBeer: the Mattel handheld football game
I was very young when we had one. I never managed to figure out what I was supposed to do with it. I think I always lost but the LEDs were so cryptic I can't even be certain of that.

Also possibly of interest, we have walked this road before:

Original Spongebob.

So what you are you telling us that you are "so old" you remember when the last so old thread was new?

But it's a cheap comment, and I'm not beyond that :P

I have age on a bunch of stuff, I'm just trying to remember something cool and interesting.

I remember when there were no handheld devices like the Gameboy and the like....

When there used to be cartoons on after school instead of talk shows.
I remember when... Steam launched

I remember playing board games. For fun. True story.
I'm so old I remember when ...
- the iron curtain was in place
- you had wine glasses filled with cigarettes at parties and the room was filled with smoke
- kids played outside because games and game consoles were still rare
- transformers were cartoons and toys
- bands with males were bands playing music and not boy bands
- Milli Vanilli were thought to sing for real
