I'm sorry OP, but I don't understand why you feel the need to give up something you like for a bunch of people you have no personal interest in and who really have no personal interest in you? I say play what you like and ignore the rest. Reminds me of high school/kiddie stuff. smh. Gaming Platform Bullies, omgoodness. lol

Enebias: I'm only waiting to spend the rest of my life on GOG Galaxy. Just FYI! ;)
avatar
JudasIscariot: Duly noted :)
I'll go along with that myself. I'm crossing my fingers that GOG stays DRM-free and around for decades more :)

Can't wait for Galaxy to get planted so I can see it grow!

And to come out of the closet: I play consoles, hardcore, and always have. I love them, and if it wasn't for consoles, gaming in general wouldn't be the same as it is today. It gives variety of play styles, even if that line is thinning these days. I've played since NES, then SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, PS3, a DS and PSP, not to mention an old school gameboy, a hand me down XboX, an Xbox 360, and over 200 vintage games on my shelf from nearly 20 years of gaming history, many of which have never been officially released on PC and may never.

And guess what? I won't change any time soon. I can't wait to get a Vita and a PS4, probably won't bother with an Xbox One (because there's nothing there that interests me right now), and the only PC games I've ever played in the past is the infinity engine RPG's and a few big name real-time and turn-based strategy titles. Most of my GOG collection, old and new, is new territory for me. I'm far from an elitist, even if I've been reveling in GOG as of late. If there wasn't a DRM-free platform, I probably wouldn't even play PC games.

But GOG is my ONLY PC platform, because of all the console gaming I do. I buy hard copies, games I'll own forever. If hard copies went away, I'd probably just collect old games and enjoy my DRM-free GOG collection, with a lot of tabletop gaming mixed in there too as I always have that for when video gaming becomes frustrating or dull.

Elitists get to me too, but that's also why I'm not as into most gaming communities as some people. I like to learn things, give feedback where I feel it could help someone, or share my experiences, but I would never ever tell someone what's better or worse. That's a persons own choice, and it's not my place to bash that. Most don't care about opinions anyway. They'll play what they like.

I think there's a need for a variety of platforms, and being elitist about any one platform does not support the gaming industry but only your preferred niche. Color me overly open minded and optimistic, but I love having many different systems and types of games to choose from. Some games cross-over, but many others don't and may never. If you deny yourself access out of smite or "just because this platform is better", your just limiting your own potential for fun and enjoyable gaming.

Go for your consoles. Play PC when it fits the mood. It's not about what's better, but what you enjoy. Either way, play what you want. Shrug off the elitists, and have fun :)

Here I thought "Master Race" was a race as a run to the goal of upgrading the hardware.. I am naive.

About your will to leave the Pc gaming market.. Well if you are an active online player, coming from Dota 2 and / or "pro" CS like aimers, sure, that's a sound reason to leave such communities. If not, why do you care what others do and boast about Pc? Enjoy the higher res and settings options, clear cut prices, frequent deals, bundles rain and forget the puppies barking behind.

l0rdtr3k: So yeah, I'm going to stick to my 360 for indefinite time, but I'll still participate in both here in the forum and in the Blood Bowl league because I just like the site and the people here that much.
Yay \o/

was worried there for few seconds.

But seriously, especially all the console war - master race stuff is to be taken with heavy grain and salt....if someones really personally offended by the "peasantry" comments and what not, then its better to take deep breath and try to accept banter is just that, banter.

<< enjoys reading forums with cheese (cheapest brie from market) and wine (ok so its actually cheapest beer from local market), while listening to "elite music"

l0rdtr3k: well,hi there.
Yeah, I'm seriously thinking about it. The reason for this is elitism. It's not a big revelation that most of the PC crowd(GOG excluded) is one of the most toxic, elitist, immature communities in gaming. Always trying to find reasons to bash consoles and trying to show that all others gaming plataforms suck except the PC and believing that they are part of a so called "Master Race".
I don't want to be part of that, I hate elitism and I do not tolerate this happening in my favourite hobby. Thinking about it,gaming is not some hobby for me,it's my lifestyle.

Also,if you want to say "I don't give a fuck" or stuff like that, well,I'm not wasting my time and bandwidth responding to you. I just felt that I needed to get this off my chest.

Peace.
Some of us don't have a choice. I like games, but I can't afford a console, as much as I might like to have one. As it is, I can only play older games on my computer, because I can't afford a graphics/video card. I think this site has been great for people like me, people wanting to relieve stress after a long day by playing a game that only cost 3 bucks. It's a great service. Consoles seem cool, but there aren't many single-player adventure games (my favorite genre). I agree with you, though, there are a lot of immature peeps up in here, but that's no reason to quit PC gaming if you like the games. I happen to think PC games are making a comeback, especially since consoles are so ridiculously expensive.
Let me tell you guys something:I have a lot going on in my head right now and I admit that I overreacted to some comments on the Internet. But I'm still going to leave PC gaming for a while until I sort my life out, pass the exams and just take HUGE loads of my back.
But as I said, I'll stick around the forum and the BB League and stop reading Youtube,Kotaku comments and everything related to "which plataform is the best". And I don't play much multiplayer games, when I do is mostly Dark Souls or Halo(which have their bad apples, good thing I have my friends to play with).
And the only "elite" thing I know or care about in gaming is the series

-snip-
heh quote from one of the Master Race propaganda pages:

You don't need a top-of-the-line gaming PC to be a member of the Master Race. You don't even need to own a PC. You just have to recognize that PC is objectively superior to consoles in every way possible as explained here!

While it has alot of satire in it, has actually alot general info that might be useful for current casual PC owner as well.

Anyways, remember the cheese & wine - not to be taken too seriously dammit.

l0rdtr3k: ... stop reading Youtube comments...
Not reading YouTube comments is a very good idea for sure. Reading them and keeping the faith in the intelligence of the human race is nearly impossible.

I havent actually heard any updates on the reboot for quite some time now. Its one of those rare games i have actually some level of expectations.. Blood Bowl 2 being the biggest wait naturally.

If you're going to get a Vita and you are a hoarder (like me :P) you should look into getting the 64 GB memory card, if possible :D I got mine coming and I got my PSN+ subscription with a bunch of games that would've cost me more if I hadn't bought the subscription. Also, grab Persona 4 Golden, it's great :D

...seriously who stops playing a certain system over the actions of others who also play the system? this is the dumbest thing ive read on these forums

I find console peasants to be the more outspoken of all gamers, trying to justify not being able to afford a decent gaming pc
Are you saying that not being able to afford a decent gaming pc is a bullshit excuse? I'm still running a laptop with a 240m Nvidia card for the sole reason that I can't afford to get something better. All my money goes to school and living. I'm saving for a new computer, but it'll take a while.

Just avoid gaming forums.

Problem solved.

You're part of the problem. And Crosmando. But Crosmando is at least entertaining.
I'm beginning to hate what PC games have become, but I've always sort of hated what console games were. For those reasons, people like myself will always be stuck in that never ending revolving door.

I did recently pick up a used PS3 so that I could play console exclusives or games that I otherwise couldn't play (like most games that are on Steam). I don't regret it and have had a lot of fun with games like Red Dead Redemption and Skyrim, but it still seems like something I shouldn't have had to do. Gaming is changing, and as I get older I don't see many of those changes as being a good thing. Maybe it's good that as we get older we have less time for child-like habits. If we immerse ourselves too much in those childhood fantasy lands, we lose out a lot of what we could be gaining as adults.

Plus there's work, and work hates gaming. It bullies it at school and demands its lunch money.
