Cyberevil: This many posts and no one has linked this?

How could that be?

And why let anyone force you to do something because of the way they are?

That head master race guy looks too much like Jerry Garcia to me ... WTF?
So why don't you "quit" the PC gaming community rather than quitting PC gaming? Unless the majority of your gaming is multiplayer, you can still PC game while avoiding the toxic, elitist elements of the community.

If you are a fan of GoT, for example, would you quit watching the show because you can't stand other GoT fans?
While it's true that lately this whole "PC master race" farce is starting to become annoying, I really don't think that console players are any better. Ever heard the term "console war"? Being an ex-console player myself (bought my new PC rig nearly three moths ago), I can tell you that my last 7 years on the internet were spent avoiding those idiotic comments from Microsoft or Sony zealots that drown every single damn site, trying to find a few decent folks among the horde of fanboy psychos. And what about Xbox Live? Ever tried playing with random people? 75% of the times you'll find boisterous kids or true berserkers of swearing. Though even in PC gaming there are too many similar examples, I really can't share your feelings, given the fact I found a widely better atmosphere on this platform. Simply, today a lot of new -and younger- audience has come to PC (probably also due to the last gen console stagnation), so seeing this kind of b******t seems fairly normal to me.

pingu53: ...seriously who stops playing a certain system over the actions of others who also play the system? this is the dumbest thing ive read on these forums
Yup, this definitely has me scratching my head. Restricting oneself to what and how one can play simply due to the run-of-the-mill retards that run around on the web is a very strange choice. In addition, console gaming also tends to be more expensive in the long run.

*shrug* To each their own... I guess.

l0rdtr3k: Yeah, I'm seriously thinking about it. The reason for this is elitism. It's not a big revelation that most of the PC crowd(GOG excluded) is one of the most toxic, elitist, immature communities in gaming. Always trying to find reasons to bash consoles and trying to show that all others gaming plataforms suck except the PC and believing that they are part of a so called "Master Race".
I don't want to be part of that, I hate elitism and I do not tolerate this happening in my favourite hobby. Thinking about it,gaming is not some hobby for me,it's my lifestyle.
Sorry, l0rdtr3k, but that doesn't make any sense to me. If you enjoy both PC gaming and console gaming, why give up one for the other, just because of some forum trolls or even RL idiots talking rubbish? If you only care about the games, just stick to playing them and instead give up partcipating in or even reading any flamewars or elitist BS discussions, simple as that. Don't let silly words spoil your fun with games you enjoy. If on the other hand you actually care about gaming communities and the image of PC gaming, what do you hope to achieve by just switching sides and leave PC gaming to the elitists? Why not set an example instead and be a paragon of both PC and console gaming, someone to prove that it doesn't have to be either or, a PC gamer who respects console gaming AND a console gamer who respects PC gaming at the same time, someone to show that not all PC gamers are snobs?
Both sides of the coin have their distinct advantages and disadvantages, and the amount of bullcrap that mounted up over all the completely failed promises of the "next generation" of consoles actually lead me BACK to PC gaming.

Honestly, the only place you typically find the attitudes you describe are in already toxic communities, so I find it hard to only single out PC gamers for being toxic, when the entire tone of said communities are already based around incredibly cynical and toxic attitudes. (I mean RPS, Youtube communities, reddit, kotaku, neogaf, etc, etc, etc.)
I also tend to think that the whole PC MASTER RACE thing, aside from just being something that Yahtzee inadvertently set off for a one off humorous aside, grew as a response to incredibly obnoxious console dudebro gamers and the incredibly immature 12 year olds that mainly constitute that community as well.

To be frank, if we went back to just worrying about what WE think is fun, and stop giving an eff about what other people think of us, we'd all be better off, whether we choose to game on a console, or a PC.

As a personal aside, I'm glad to be back in the PC gaming world, as I don't have to put up high prices, no sales and price gouging. I also don't choose to surround myself with the type of people who buy into all that stuff. I'd recommend it, it makes having fun with a hobby I love so much better! :D
Peace out.

I would just ignore the elitists on both sides of the fence and just play the games and systems that interest you :)

As far as multi goes, play with other GOGers, it's a lot more fun :) (speaking from my experience plying in the GOG Blood Bowl league :) )
This thread seems mostly to induce drama anyway. If it was that bothersome it would've made more sense to just ignore it, rather than make a thread about it and get the ball rolling.

I'm only waiting to spend the rest of my life on GOG Galaxy. Just FYI! ;)

Thirded, with a caveat for surrounding yourself with people who think the same. :)
Do you think that only PC gaming has these so-called Elitists? Do you think that Console gaming doesn't have its own "elitists"? I've heard people trashing PC gaming and considering Console gaming as the One & Only.

If you want to give up PC gaming for Console gaming, do it only if YOU want to. Don't do it because of others. Don't let any kind of fanboys ruin your gaming experience.

Duly noted :)
In my opinion, PC gamers are the elite. Console games are typically big-budget rail shooters, and their controls are limited by the consoles joypad. Also, any indie can create games for the PC platform, they don't need any special permision, like they do with consoles. I typically tries to avoid console ports, since they tends to be crappy games. But okay, I can understand why constant console bashing might be a bit tiresome.
