SimonG: Guys leaving a forum is like when somebody [is] leaving a party. If they don't announce their leaving you always wonder where he is.
And that +5 Sword of Annihilation ? Yeah, you're never getting it back :|...

ne_zavarj: I'm socially burned out . ( is this the right sentence ? )

TheJoe: You know you don't have to spend all day every day on the forums, right? You can do other stuff with your day it's okay we won't mind.

I mean, yesterday - you won't believe this - I played a video game. Woah. On Saturday I even went outside to meet an old friend of mine! Isn't that crazy? You can do this kind of stuff too! You don't have to "leave the community" just to go do other things.
This

I only visit these forums a few times per day. Sometimes I forget to visit the site entirely. Take a break for a while, you find yourself back here in no time.

Fake_Sketch: I think you're taking this to srsly, u don't have to say hi, goodbye or even have a good post/time ratio, just have fun and come and go as you please.
That sounds like anarchy to me. We need bouncers (moderators) who control who comes and goes out of the forum.

Unrelated to this, yesterday we were visiting another couple whose home I've never seen. I instantly noticed their (= probably his) vast DVD collection, and most importantly a gigantic box of Babylon 5.

I was afraid to ask whether he likes the show and mention that it is probably the best scifi show I've seen (and the only space scifi TV series I've ever liked, probably), but I was afraid to ask in order not to look like a total nerd.

Next I know, he probably has an account in GOG too. And is reading this message.

Y'know, he probably even figured out who you are by your message. And he could be right behind your window right now! Or even behind your shoulder!!! But DON'T look or that'll make him REAL ANGRY!!!

(sorry, couldn't resist a ZP pun)
Just chiming in to wish you good luck in your future endeavors, ne_zavarj. :)

As many people have said before me, I hope that you come back eventually, if you feel so.

timppu: I never understood why people advertise they are going to leave a forum... but maybe it is a cry for help, like the people who say out loud they are going to commit a suicide? Those warning signs should always be taken seriously by others. So:

Ne_zavarj, don't do it! Don't leave the forum just like that! Think of your children! We do care.
Things can get a bit shitty on these forums, and sometimes it seems like no-one cares.
Good luck Ne_zavarj! Though I must add myself to the ones who think 'good bye' threads are unnecessary. People usually go from a 'lurking' trend to a 'posting a lot' trend, then back to a 'lurking a lot and posting occasionally' trend to a 'leaving the forum, then coming back if they miss it' trend.

This has happened to me in other forums and I'm currently in my 'lurking and posting occasionally' stage, but I don't see myself ever leaving. Unlike other forums... I have 70 games on this site, which is a monetary investment. True, I could stick to the main page and my games page, but whenever I'm bored, why not check the forums as well?

So, whatever your reasons, you've got a few pages of people talking about it, it might change your mind. You've been around here quite a while, but the site has gotten bigger and the tightly knit community feel gets lost when you don't recognize most of the posters anymore, so it's understandable. If you found other places that fill your forum needs, then go, have fun and don't look back, but if you ever feel like returning, you're more than welcome to do so.

(Then again, this wasn't much of a 'going away' thread but a notice regarding trades and giveaways that won't be available after the 1st of january, so yeah, that should be appreciated for what it is.)
See you guys in December 2013 .

I'm sure you'll be back before then. Anyway, whatever has put you off these forums, i'd like to say that i have never had a problem with you, and i feel that you are an accepted member of the GOG community. You are someone who is recognisable here, and i'd hope that you'd realise that some people value your contribution here.

It's the same for me, only that I seem to be bored easily, because I find myself checking here for new and interesting threads far too often when I should be doing other stuff instead. So I need to limit myself a bit more forcefully. But this doesn't mean farewell at all.
