Hi there, I'm on the lookout for another good and long RPG I can sink my teeth into after Dark Souls 2.
Can anyone recommend a good RPG?

Here are some games which I like or love to give you an idea of what I like:
Breath of Fire 3
Dark Souls
The Elder Scrolls
Icewind Dale
South Park TSOT
Borderlands
Vagrant Story
Baldurs Gate (in general)

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I have enough to keep me going for ages now. Thanks to all who replied! Happy gaming :)

I would go with Ni No Kuni.
Try the Mass Effect Series and Dragon Age Origins... :)

In Mass Effect, you can play a character through all three games,(playing through ME 1 twice to get to level 60, though it doesn't matter as much in ME2 and ME3 to play through more than once).

Get the Dragon Age Origins Ultimate and there is lots to occupy your time, the combat action is good, characters entertaining.

I suggest, as always, the Witcher 2; you can start with the first one if you want, but it's not necessary. However, the first game is pretty awesome too, as far as role-playing gameplay is concerned, so I suggest looking into it, watch some youtubes.
I would recommend Jade Empire or Fable.
Wait, what do you mean 'After Dark Souls 2'?
That thing's not out until April!

Jade Empire is an overlooked Bioware thing that I recently found I could barely put down until it was finished...

+1 for Jade Empire. Decent story with a few twists, a relative amount of freedom, interesting characters and fluid combat.

Two Worlds is a decent open world RPG with a few rough edges.

Risen (not on GOG at the moment) and Gothic (2's the best imo) allow complete freedom but both were a little too sandboxy for me.

Another underrated RPG for me is Kingdoms of Amalur.

I checked out some screen shots of Two Worlds, jesus that looks at HELL of a lot like TES4: Oblivion :')
I like Oblivion though so that's fine by me!
Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 (lots of user-made content + there are online servers)

Ah I see, but still, you're planning ahead - I though you meant you had somehow finished DS2 already...
Dragon Age: Inquisition comes out Fall 2014. That may be a good one to get into. Time will tell, but so far, it looks spectacular.

DA1 is really really good and even DA2 is good, if not a bit repetitive.

Two Worlds 2 is more polished and a bit more fun and a bit more varied. Also technically a lot better. (again you really should look into Ni No Kuni ;) )
If you can get past the controls (and that admittedly took me several tries and but then mapped my gamepad and was in heaven) you should try Gothic 1 and/or Gothic 2.

If you're going to play both, then play 1 first, but if you're only going to play one, then it doesn't matter, both are great, although 2 with the add on may be longer and a little tougher if you wanted that info to decide.

But IMO Gothic and Gothic 2 are two of the best games of all time, up there with Betrayal at Krondor and Fallout.

But I suggest it only because I see you included Borderlands. Because Gothic isn't at like the other RPG's you mentioned, as character development isn't near as in depth as some of those. But the story and gameplay and humor was a blast for me.

STORY ABOUT GOTHIC 2: In Gothic 2, my first playthrough I chose to be a mercenary, and what that basically meant was you had to prove yourself sometimes by beating other characters in a fight. When I first entered the penal area I was met with another such challenge, beat the character, and while he was laying on the ground, looted him. Then later discover he's going to join me.

So off we go to fight these TRex like creatures, some of the toughest in Gothic 2, and this guy runs up starts fist fighting these things because I took his sword and all of his weapons, and of course he gets the bejeezus beat out of him, but I'm laughing at watching him punch at a TRex and then the TRex takes a bite out of his ass and he heroically punches back and I'm laughing and laughing.... So this happens like twice, and after the second time, he stops and tells me "I think I'm going to need more money to keep doing this" OMG I frickking lost it, and bust out laughing!!!!!! "yeah, I guess you do want more money you dumb SOB" LOL
No one has said KOTOR.

If you are a Star Wars fan it is a must.
