I still think the US has gotten its wires crossed where legal age of driving/drinking is concerned. You allow them to drive at 16 but no drinks until 21? Having grown up in Germany their laws make more sense in that regard as its the other way around (minus hard liquor until a person is 18). Let them get their boozing out of their system before they get anywhere near a steering wheel. Not to mention how horrible teenage drivers can be. *shudder*

It's just really fucking stupid, antiquated and in dire need of reform. Not least of all because it still maintains that women are brainless and powerless and men are in the wrong no matter what. That's something that the EU might actually prove useful for as I don't think our laws are... legal.

Don't forget until last year Male rape wasn't a legal entity, also it's also the males fault if he's under 16 aswell (you get done for rape on your 16th bday ain't that nice? My nephew got 2 years on the register cause his GF was 2 days younger than him and the parents pressed for charges -.-)

You can also go to war and get shot at the grand age of 17 if you're sneaky enough with the lie, 18 legally. You can drive as young as 12 so long as the cops don't catch you doing it (My parents had farmers in their near family). You need to be 16 to get a license though. You can buy porn at 18 and own a credit card and have debt.

This actually came up 3 years ago here, people arguing to reduce the drinking age to 18 because they can get shot at, and get porn, and have debt, and have a house, and publicly masturba- okay no, they still can't do that last one. And there was such a freaking rage about it by M.A.D.D. and D.A.R.E. (Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and D..... Fuck if I can remember, they don't ever seem to come up outside of 4th grade)

Yeah, it can and often does happen. No matter how many places have far more sane laws than us, we don't appear to be in the habit of adopting these laws. Makes me wonder just how far removed from reality this country's lawmakers really are.

The legal age in the UK is 16. To to buy alcohol you have to be 18, to drink it in private you have to be 5.

I started drinking when I was 15 didn't start doing it regularly till I was 16. Had sex when I was 15 with my boyfriend who was 17.
Being legal age doesn't really mean much, just means you can be more public about your actions.

We have a prime minister and chancellor of the exchequer who think a family of 5 can live on less than 200 quid a week and be comfortable. Who let multibillion tax dodgers off the hook but take people to court over 20 quid tax... Oh and think 50% tax on incomes over 1million a year is much to high but bonuses of 20million+ are fine... I'd say they're pretty goddamn far away from reality
