If you're a combat simulation veteran and you have design skills then this contest is made for you. In the IL-2 Sturmovik™: 1946 game folder you'll find skins for all planes available in the game (default path is /Program Files/GOG.com/IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/PaintSchemes/Skins). Your task is to create your own skin for the plane of your choice and send it to users@gog.com by Thursday, April 2 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The best skin will be chosen by GOG.com's Design Team and the author of this masterpiece will be awarded with a free game from GOG.com's catalogue. We'll announce the lucky winner in the community update news on Saturday, April 4. You have to own the game on GOG.com to enter the contest. Good luck and don't forget to make a copy of the original skin :).
EDIT: Saturday has come and that means we have to pick a winner. And that winner is... ElPixelIlustre, with just a little bit of help from his girlfriend. ;)

So, any wishes for a skin? cause i have some neat ideas about either black/blue or black/green.
and maybe something inspired by the red baron.
How many designs can i submit?
Do you want the skin file? or a screenshot of the skin created?
Speaking of skins, way to go with the GOG.com skin on your game screenshots.
I'd buy this if it weren't for the fact that I'm hepped up on Flight Sim X and I need a joystick because it sucks playing flight sims with a 360 gamepad that drops out wirelessly.

Your 360 controller "drops out"? I used to have that problem, too. The solution is buying a USB hub with its own electrical source. Since then, I have never had trouble with the thing.
Hmm, so I'll just get one of those and plug my 360 wireless adapter in. Good idea.

Before you spend any money, open device manager and expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Get properties on each and go to the power tab, there should be an option called something like "allow this device to be shut off to save power", untick those and it may well help.

Thanks for that, seems to still drop out, meaning it must be interference, no matter how improbable that may sound.

Send us your skin file along with a fancy screenshot. Some of us like watching planes. :) Also submit as much as you want though pleas don't spam us too much. ;) Please note that you can also change the pilots skin and add your own multiplayer regiment markings. (Cook suggested that as it's not that easy it shouldn't be compulsory nonetheless I just want to remind you that you can ;)
Just wondering, are the best skins going to be added as downloable content later?
Maybe is a stupid question but... how do I play with the skin I've designed?

I believe you just put it in the skins folder where you installed the game. Back up first, things could get messy.
I did exactly that. I put my skin in the same folder (Yak-9U) but there are already some different skins and I can't see neither of them in game.

Rename the skin? Not sure myself, since I'm unable to join (I got the games on Steam, sadly)
I made it ^___^
If someone needs help, just ask me.

I will surely follow this thread! I'm not a very creative person myself, but I certainly know, that I'm one of those persons who likes looking at airplanes! :-)
