Loved reading all of these. Apologize in advance for the wall of quotes:
SpooferJahk: Also, when you refer to clear Pepsi, do you mean Crystal Pepsi? If so, I really wish such a thing existed today, I would love to try that stuff.
You have a better memory than me! I had it back then and thought it was awful. It made me sick.
Emob78: Mad Balls
M.A.S.K. - it was Transformers meets G.I.Joe. Great toys.
Mad Balls, hahahah. I loved the Skull one. I got a Mad Balls comic book some time, think it was just for promotional purposes. My brother had
this M.A.S.K. car.
JustSayin: Slap Bracelets. I got those at the tail end of it's popularity.
I think back at those now and wonder how the hell they were so popular. But I had several.
I had a pair! $120 which was insanely expensive back then.
OldFatGuy: This reminds me of a true story that I've shared before, so if I already shared it here, sorry.
Awesome story, your grandfather was way ahead of his time.
awalterj: LEGO sets that didn't have some retarded theme.
Seriously, can you even buy regular LEGOs anymore? My friend and I were just talking about all the licensed LEGOs the other day. My sets had themes such as "Police Station", "Truck Stop", "Spaceship". :)
Tallima: Sit Ooboo Sit. WOOF! Good dog.
LOL, I loved that at the end of shows. Its amazing you remembered it!
Orangina: I did find out after looking it up on wikipedia that it is still around. But I haven't seen it since I was kid. I think in the US, you can only find it in specialty stores, at least where I am.
The responses have jogged my memory somewhat:
Play-doh (maybe its still around? But I doubt kids today play with it)
Video/game rental stores
Laserdiscs (always wanted them, but too expensive)
CD Jukeboxes
The original version of almost every movie coming out now
Slinky
TV antennas (one thing that I'm very glad is gone)
Having to rely on cable TV for porn - anyone remember switching back and forth to an adult pay channel to see the video for a few seconds before the scrambling kicked in? I do. :)
MOD music format - I loved downloading those files and listening via Pro Audio Spectrum sound card.
Garbage Pail Kids
Cabbage Patch Kids
Musclemen
