Tetris (Game Boy)

Tetris is not Minecraft!
Fully destructible environment
Gameplay based on blocks, just like Minecraft
Multiple game modes
Minecraftesque blocks
Catchy music
Blocks, your friends from Minecraft, appear here
Action oriented gameplay
Our marketing team said we must casually drop the name Minecraft
Create custom game modes, for example you can pause and humm along to the music, try to get the biggest score or go for building the tower as fast as possible.
Did we mention Minecraft?
DRM-free cartridge, also usable on future Game Boy systems
Minecraft. Brains. BRAAAAAAAAINS. Oops!
Addictive gameplay for dozens of hours of fun.
Notch's game with the blocks is similar, this... what was the name... oh, yes, Minecraft.
You can end the game in a few seconds whenever you need to. No installation or uninstallation required, no driver configurations, just plug the cartridge in and play!
War... Star... err... Mine... yes... Minecraft! We had to say that!
From the creators of Tetris, for the system that ran Super Mario Land.
If you spell Tetris backwards, it says Minecraft. No, that was a lie.
Dozens of levels, with time as your only enemy. Make the game as easy or difficult as you like by placing a few blocks at the beginning before actually trying to advance.
This game where you build houses is strongly inspired by Tetris. SimCity, no, wait, Minecraft!
Behold, the saviour of FPS gaming!
Gods, but that's painful!
And the graphics, too >.<
Dunno if that's good or bad.
**looks for bleach to pour in my ears**
That was.... DREADFUL!

If Tetris were made and marketed today, you'd bet your ass they'd try and work in a two weapon limit, regenerating health, and chest-high walls.
They would be smaller and cost more money cause more of the budget would go towards advertising which may result in more sales but that may just end up being even more advertising.

But to argue against myself in a sense , I do find it very odd randomly going online message boards and how people on video game message boards never heard of games like the Witcher. (which I think even if one doesn't have a gaming PC and are into RPGs at all they should have know a little bit about at least, it isn't like it is an indie game) I would assume, that a person if they truly enjoy something like video games or a genre in video games they would use the internet to try to look up games they may find fun. But to be fair when about to buy an older game or a lesser known game I may ask others what they think of it, but i usually at least skim Wikipedia or some kind of reviews first.

That's actually not a hypothetical situation. New Tetris games are still being released today with some pretty interesting modern twists like monthly subscriptions to boost your Tetris rank:

As funny as the vid is, it is misleading. CoD and Doom are basically two different genres. CoD is as much the successor of Doom as Diablo was a successor of The Bards Tale.
